Oddly, the Colonel's assessment of China is 180° opposite from every other informed internal assessment I have heard.
I like and highly respect the Col. opinions, but....to each its own.

Yeah, it's pretty limited in many weird ways. Though I guess I'd have to be happy that AI can't really navigate the planet. Makes it harder for it to control missiles. LOLI tried to figure out the polar route difference was being that the Earth is prolate, and asked for the shortest distance, but our brilliant AI-controlled internet refused to plot what I asked for and only gave me the shortest travel time and distance via common commercial airliner, including wanting to offer me prices and tickets.
He's is going because he believes he is a Great Deal Maker.IDK why he is going at all.
It is actually the shorter route.
A straight line over the pole brings you to the other side of the world much faster than trying to circumnavigate the entire Pacific Ocean.
The power balance is shifting.
No one likes China, but the USA is liked even less.
I think I'd go with that green route, even though it adds some distance. But the 74AF1 can go a very long ways on a single load of gas.Yet when I repeatedly ask sites for the distance between DC and Beijing, it never asked me which way. It never asked me whether I wanted a regular lateral route or a polar route. All it said was an average of 13 to 15 hours.
If the polar route is so good, then I assume most commercial flights fly it too?
I tried to get a look at what that route might be. A truly direct route takes Trump over some of the bleakest regions of the world, like Hudson Bay, the Arctic Ocean, and most of all, over vast expanses of Russia (red route) but to fly around Russia and Korea is longer (green route).

Is Trump in a hurry? Frankly, I like neither route and if Trump had to make an emergency landing, there are few places to land, bitter cold, inhospitable locations, and very hostile territory. With my original plot, Trump has the advantage of staying over the USA for the first 3,000 miles. Then he could always divert to Hawaii or some island if he had trouble over the Pacific.
I finally coaxed one site to show me an alternative I like:
The jet would fly first to our west coast then from there, take a polar route which keeps them from flying over Russia, and it has the added opportunity of landing in Alaska if something goes wrong.

The oil thing, skye sweety. The western media doesn't publish this probably and neither does the China media either, I'd bet, but right now China is in a place with fuel like America was in the 1970s with a gas shortage. Half tank rationing
and lines around the block waiting for gas.

That would be a good idea but alas, there will never be peace with the radical Islamist regime in Iran.If I were Trump I would have suspended the visit to China until there was a peace deal with Iran.
This would have checkmated China and Iran. Now President Xi gets to convince all of the oppressed citizens that even Americas president visits us as we are too important.
The Chinese citizens want freedom and we reward the Communists without any sacrifices on their part.
The alligator will eat us last but eat us they will.
Screw you. In other words, America The Terrible, the people taking all the immigrants in, loaning out all the money, selling all the weapons, giving all of the military weapons to others, donating billions to human charity, poverty and starvation, and creating all of the business opportunity are far worse than the self-serving brutal Red Chinese regime which steals people off the street then carves them up as unwilling human organ donors.
I think I'd go with that green route, even though it adds some distance.
I always worry about his safety when he goes to those places.I would have put this in our China folder, but we have none! We have a folder for Iraq and Canada, but none for our biggest adversary? At any rate, this thread will at least BEGIN as a collection of my own thoughts and idle speculations then go from there.
I don't like Trump going to China, I don't think it a good idea. First, I think it presents a great danger to Trump. Let's begin with the trip. I created a map for this, below:

Here is a map I threw together for several reasons. First of all, DC where Trump left and Beijing where Trump is presumably going are at about the same latitudes. I am guessing that it'll take Air Force One around 14 hours to make the flight. I watched Trump leaving the WH this morning to board Marine One, then caught coverage of him boarding AF1 at Joint Base Andrews. AF1 took off from JBA at around 2;15PM today, so we will say 2:30 for a round number as they probably had to circle around a bit before heading out. By my estimate then, at this time, AF1 should be somewhere over our West coast, over California heading out over the Pacific about now.
The yellow hash marks are an approximation of about where I'd guess AF1 to be for each hour flying time.
The blue numbers underneath are the absolute time by EDT. This means that I would estimate AF1 to arrive in China at Beijing somewhere around 4:30AM tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. But AF1 is also flying westward away from the Sun counteracting the rotation of the Earth, so I tried to correct for this by crude estimation. So even though Trump left at 2:30 EDT from DC and is now leaving or soon to leave continental USA for the ocean, it is still only around 3:30PM local time there.
I tried to estimate the local time by correcting for time zones (13 of them) using a time zone map, and put the local times in red above the line.
The green line is just a rough demarcation showing the IDL (International Date Line).
What all this crap means is that by the time Trump reaches the IDL midway over the Pacific, it'll still only be about an hour local time later than when he left. This is where it gets complicated. I estimated him arriving in Beijing around 5:50 local time. It is around 6:30 in the morning, Wednesday the 13th in Beijing right now, so, that suggests Trump will arrive there around 4:30PM there. My guess was 5:30PM. I tried an air travel app too and inputted the leaving location, destination and travel time too and it also came up with 5:30.
So Trump left around 2:30PM from DC on Tuesday, and will arrive in China around 4:30PM - 5:30PM their time on Wednesday. To put it more strangely, Trump left 2:30 in the afternoon, flew about 13-15 hours, and will land in China at 5:30PM only 3 hours later in the day, but a day later.
So around 1:30AM tomorrow morning EDT, TRump will be flying over Japan, and about an hour later, will be crossing over S. Korea. Since Trump will be arriving in China late afternoon their time, it'll still feel like 4:30AM to his body (jet lag), so I would guess that Trump will arrive in Beijing about 10 hours from now, will be greeted, then probably have dinner and get some rest, and the official two day summit between him and Jinping will begin the next say.
SO, WHAT IS MY POINT?
My point being that this trip was publicly announced weeks in advance. If I can figure all of this crap out just goofing around, can you imagine what someone might figure out if they had serious bad intentions for the president? China is our biggest enemy. I think it was wrong for Trump to go there, it makes him look like a supplicant. Jinping should be coming here (he's supposed to later this year), or at the very least, both Trump and Xi should meet somewhere neutral--- like maybe New Zealand. I do not believe in accidents and a lot of people in China have accidents. I hope AF1 is being protected by a squad of fighter jets and I hope Trump has protection there out the wazoo.
One last point: something like 30 business leaders went with Trump, some of the richest men in the world like Elon Musk, so I presume a big part of Trump's trip will involve using business as leverage to try to finagle his way with Xi.
Name the countries we have destroyed. You are destroying countries,
Name any trade we have disrupted.disrupting trade,
Name what refugees we have caused.causing refugees
Name where we have killed civilians.and killing civilians.
Even money there's a kinetic attack on Iran during the meeting.I would have put this in our China folder, but we have none! We have a folder for Iraq and Canada, but none for our biggest adversary? Name the countries we have destroyed.
Name any trade we have disrupted.
Name what refugees we have caused.
Name where we have killed civilians.
This I gotta hear. Quit slinging baseless, rogue accusations, time to back it up with some proof.

I think I'd go with that green route, even though it adds some distance.
Well, out of a dozen experts I've listened to, he is the ONLY person who seems to think that losing Iranian oil (which supplies most of the oil to them), is no problem at all.
In fact, one reason it is important is because Iran gives China a special price 25% below what the rest of the world pays for oil through OPEC.
Way smarter than you.Are you dumb?
That means nothing. Who is etcetera??? Afghanistan was occupied and attacked by Russia for years. Why ain't you mad at Russia? We were in Afghanistan for military reasons after they got involved in attacking us. Iraq was central to giving al-Quada a home during and after we were hit with 9/11 killing 3000 Americans, you JACKASS. Libya was part and parcel of the usual gun running middle east war operation, and Iran has been threatening the West with nuclear war for 50 years, bunghole. Now they are going to war against all their neighbors.Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran etc.
A). There is no Palestine. Go show it to me on a map. 2). The whole Gaza war began from Iran attacking Israel thru its Hamas proxies. And as to ammunition factories, the only reason anyone there is using American ammunition is because it kicks the ass of all the Russian and Chinese ammunition others are using!Whole destruction of Palestine+Lebanon comes from US ammunition factories.

That was from ISIS you bunghole. They all fled to escape the destruction of ISIS. And you assholes have been sucking up those immigrants like gravy! What has stopped you from turning them away, jackass?Whole Europe + West-Asia is full of refugees coming from these places.
Another very interesting opinion.
