U.S. president says move is response to Ontario's 25 per cent surcharge on electricity for 3 states

Yep, as I warned on here. It's easy for Doug Ford and his police buddies to violate the rights of citizens in Ontario as there is no accountability. Just as the RCMP do at a federal level without accountability.

Quite another issue to believe these same abusers can do a thing to the U.S and their economy if the U.S decides they don't want to allow it anymore.

Trump doing precisely what I expected he would. I'm sure the W.H and State Department have PLENTY of details of Canadian abuses going all the way back to the Obama administration...

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he has instructed his commerce secretary to put an additional 25 per cent tariff on all steel and aluminum coming into the United States from Canada, bringing the total tariff on those products to 50 per cent starting Wednesday.

The president said the move is in response to Ontario's 25 per cent surcharge on electricity shipped to 1.5 million American homes and business across three states.

"I have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD," Trump posted Tuesday on Truth Social.

Let's do some simple math here:

1. The US uses about 5 million metric tons of aluminum per year.

2. Of that 5 million metric tons, around 3 million metric tons comes from Canada.

Tariffs threaten Canadian aluminum critical to U.S. energy transition

3. The US also dumps about 2.7 million metric tons of aluminum in landfills per year.

Ok. Would anyone like to figure the numbers on US steel usage, how much we import from Canada, and how much we waste?

Surely the liberals can figure this one out. Aren't they the ones who have always been for recycling?

Next up, Canada jumps their tariffs to 50%.

This is not how you run trade policy.
Except you didn't see the point that Trump made in which he has directed his team to look at domestic solutions as he is declaring a national security for the area impacted. In short, he is looking at options to cut off Ontarios electricity export market.

Some people are accustomed to beating up the meek and vulnerable. Americans are different, you confront the strong.

What many seem to overlook, or didn't know, the USA has been subject to more, higher, and extreme tariffs from other nations than what we have imposed upon them.

All Trump is doing is saying "Enough ! Time for some quid-pro-quo, unless you want to talk about reductions from your end."

Then they use the energy in Canada.

Ford is now threatening to shut off electricity flows completely. Next up the rest of Canada will do that. Then they will shut off water flows.

Yet during all this, Canadians still come across the border to our Costco, Trader Joe's, Kroger and other retailers to fill their five gallon jerry cans with petro, load up on milk and dairy, and purchase other foods and goods not available, or over taxed up in "The Great North".

Oh ok, let's confront the largest military in the world by cutting off their water.

Now I don't think even Trump would go that far as he would be impeached, but he is going to try and bring back jobs. Ontario knows this and I've said this for 20 years.

Canada did this to themselves. We don't have the high tech value add industries that other nations have. That's not on me, I taught myself Machine Learning when I was long out of school. The driftwood and abusive power bullies destroyed our country.

For all people say about Trump, no one can say he doesn't fight for his country that he loves.

Canada is a Paper Tiger. The scumbag leftists there can't wipe their asses without our help.

They import $80 Billion in goods from us, we import $20 from them (those are not meant to be accurate numbers, just examples), so who's gonna get hurt the most in a trade war?

As a matter of fact, many, MANY Canadian companies are in the process of moving here so they can continue to supply us with their products.

The leaders of Canada are ******* idiots. What else can you expect from brain-dead leftist scum?

We simply cut off Ontario oil pipeline. They are Green idiots who didnt allow oil in Ontario.

All that oil comes through a pipeline in the U.S.

Not any more.

inversely we still get prescriptions from them.

Now these tariffs are short term solutions to a long term problem.

It takes time to build a steel or aluminum smelting plant and to mine the ore.

We do have mothballed smelting plants and processing plants that can be refurbished....but it will require 2-5 years. And nobody is going to make a move on any of this until we really know how this is going to shake out.

Canada could just stop the fentanyl production and smuggling from their side of the border....or let our our CIA subcontractors fix it for them.

But they would rather have the black market industry....what does that say about Canada? They would rather poison us and take our money than be upright and act in good faith.

Yep, as I suspected, bully Ford just sunk Ontarios electricity revenue. Super-geniuses in Canada who are accustomed to bullying the young, weak and vulnerable. Predators. They've never faced a guy like Trump who yells "fight, fight, fight" after getting shot.

Many of us in terms of courage, have more in common with Trump than our own agencies:

There are 50 peaker plants in New York.

Green Weenies dont let them rum much as they consider them EVIL. But remove their restructions and they can go to 100% power.

Then we can just cut our transmission lines to Ontario.

There are 2 hydroelectric plants there. One in New York and 1 in Ontario. They share the grid and aid each other.

Enjoy the rolling Black outs Ontario.

You might be saved though as Peaker plants are Evil.

He pushes this new power plants will get built. Gas turbines quicker.....and he will PERMANENTLY LOSE 1.2 million customers

Crude oil
  • Ontario's Montreal refinery depends on crude oil from the United States.

  • Most of Canada's crude oil is shipped to refineries in the United States, Quebec, and Ontario.

  • Canadian refineries in Ontario import light crude oil because they can't process heavy crude oil from the oil sands.

  • Enbridge's Line 5 pipeline delivers light crude oil and natural gas liquids from Superior, Wisconsin to Sarnia, Ontario.

Vulnerability
Ontario and Quebec are vulnerable to a disruption of natural gas and crude oil from the United States.
