This reminds me of the bogus groups "Catholic For Choice" and "Catholic Alliance". Both claim to be Catholic organizations. Both have proclaimed false teaching. Both financed by the atheist Soros Organization. Both denounced by the Vatican. And yet I have heard representatives from the former featured on NPR, supposedly representing the Catholic view. It makes my blood boil. These groups were founded to confuse Catholics and to create a fake facade of Catholic support for moral issues such as abortion.

Not so. St. John Paul was a hero to the 'Catholic Right'. He's now a canonized Saint.
