Trump is doing what the voters want him to do

I got into a heated argument with my brother today. If 51% are happy keep doing what you are doing. But trump is hearing from his supporters. He’s messing with our order in the world.

But you can’t talk to these people. Something bad has to happen. And even then they’ll say give it more time

Trump has the worst numbers of any president in the first 100 days. My brother says that’s fake news. That tells me a lot of people who voted for trump realize we weren’t kidding about him. And he wasn’t kidding about being a dictator
Did you know that during the Cuban Missile Crisis and 13 Days, the majority of JFKs advisors, many of them military men, advised him to strike the missiles that were housed in Cuba? Even knowing that Russians might die in the attack?

Did you know that Churchills War Cabinet in the majority advised negotiating a peace deal with Germany (even some in the Royal Family as Germany promised they would allow them to remain Head of State)?

The moral of the story is that leaders need to keep the promises they made to their citizens and to govern as they know is best, even if not popular with his inner circle or the 1%ers/Paul Ryans of the world. In both cases above the head of the government, JFK and Churchill overruled what their advisors wanted. In both instances they knew best, it is why they were democratically elected.

In general, the voting public is never wrong. They collectively choose their leader based on their ability to make such decisions (although Churchill technically wasn't voted in by the British public, he was a replacement for Chamberlain).

Shouldn't he deliver on his campaign promises? Americans want the migrants out. The sooner the better.

---But on deporting millions of people, he went into detail---

The only campaign promise that the American people cared about was the economy. Trump promised to reduce prices on day one, and they believed him.

Furthermore, they expected the president to obey the law and follow court orders and not do anything illegal. That may have been very stupid of them given trumps behaviour during his last administration, but that is what they believed.

Churchill said it best. We eventually do the right thing, but only after exhausting all other option.

A little less than half of those Americans who voted, voted for him. I wonder if you know that.

It would be more accurate for you to say that he's doing what his electoral votes want him to do.

Who knows, perhaps you think they're human.

To go a little further, there are about 186 Americans who were registered to vote in 2024. He received about 77 million. That's a 41.39% share.

So if we're honest, we have to admit that these politicians from either party don't get real mandates.

If we're honest.

Has Trump kept his day one promises?

Donald Trump made a lot of promises while running for president. He pledged to cut taxes, reduce prices, stem undocumented migration, end wars and strengthen American industry...

Reducing prices

What he's said:

"When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one." Aug 2024

What he's done:

This is perhaps his biggest challenge and a major campaign promise that remains undelivered. In his inaugural address, Trump promised to "marshal the vast powers" of his Cabinet to rapidly bring down costs and prices, but it's unclear how. One way, he says, is by increasing drilling to reduce energy costs....

Ending Ukraine War

What he's said:

"They're dying, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I'll have that done - I'll have that done in 24 hours." May 2023

What he's done:

Trump has initiated the first talks between the US and Russia since the start of the war, but Ukraine has vowed to reject any deal hatched without it, and there's been an angry exchange between leaders. President Volodymyr Zelensky fears the US president delivering on his campaign promise to end the war but on Moscow's terms and with no security guarantees. There is also anxiety in European capitals that they are being sidelined, and that Trump may dismantle some of the sanctions imposed on Russia as punishment for the invasion....

He's failing on his promises and hasn't delivered a damn thing that Americans want.

I feel like Republicans who say everything is going according to plans and don't listen to the lying media are gaslighting us

the first 100 days usually represent the “high water mark” of a presidency and a new leader can use the goodwill of this “honeymoon phase” to advance the agenda that won them the election. But not President Donald Trump.

“As we approach the end of Trump’s first 100 days, it seems he was pretty quick to squander whatever goodwill he came in with, and that’s not just me saying it,”. “Poll after poll after poll ― and I literally mean, there’s so many of them ― is making that all perfectly clear.”

Trump's at 39% approval

Kicking illegals out wasn't the promise. That was the move he was going to make that was supposed to raise wages. Increased wages for people who compete with illegals was the goal. But wages aren't going up because of it.

And bringing manufacturing jobs back home sure seems like the long way to MAGA for uneducated blue collar Americans

Sometimes I think they're just gaslighting, and sometimes I think it's just what they're told in their world and they don't even think to question it. My guess is that, more often than not, it's the latter.

Strangely enough, I'd rather have them lying than actually believing the stuff they believe. But I guess they do.
