Its about time that a world leader stepped in to end the madness. Hail Donald !!
What this will do for Sancerre afficionados in the US is not clear.
The super rich will still be able to afford it so thats not going to be a problem.

The frogs are due a slap so this is timely. Maybe an EO renaming French fries is in order ? I cant think of a new name at the moment.

The E.U targetted Trump voting states specifically to try to hurt him and his party politically so they did this to themselves. Not surprising, since the thick Brits sent politicians over during the 2024 campaign to knock on doors for Harris. Yet, they talk about "foreign election interference".

The E.U have been security and economic freeloaders for decades, applying massive VAT, tariffs and barriers to trade with the U.S and Canada. Their leaders eat their caviar with multiple exciting conferences and meetings, they spend money on climate change boondoggles that hurt everyone except China among other boutique virtue signaling actions at their backs of their own economy. Well, let's see if their exotic wine is worth the price.

They wag their moral finger and pretend they are part of the "cooaltion of the willing" and respond with alacrity, but once the hoopla and cameras disappear, so do their promises.

Back in the day high tariffs against Europe were common. Let's see if they become common again.

Wow! The EU has put a 50% tariff on Whiskey? Just what did you think was going to happen?
You twits screw the US at every turn with tariffs and whine about it when it's reciprocated. :laughing0301:

I remember when Americans made asses of themselves by calling them Freedom Fries
because the French wouldn`t help us look for the WMDs that we KNEW didn`t exist. They strongly advised not getting involved in Southeast Asia, but we showed them!

Um well the EU would prefer to work with the US to tackle the real problem. Chinese steel. But thats not possible when the US is represented by an infant.

CHinese steel is dumped everywhere and every country uses arbitrage to simply ship it to the U.S, otherwise known as "3rd Party exports" or "trans shipments".

America is looking long term at their national security because they dont want to ever be dependent on their survival as they were during covid.

There is nothing wrong with that. Steel is one of many such critical resources a nation must have in times of need. It must be produced locally.

The EU put a 50% Whiskey tax in retaliation for Trump's tariffs on European aluminum and steel.

You MAGA morons started this trade war and now we all have to deal with the fallout.

Freedom Fries works for me.
You can feel a thrill of patriotism when shovelling Freedom Fries in your obse face. Before swilling them down with a beaker of domestic champagne.

They are doing it strategically, that's the problem. Much like when Ontario was targetting Michigan for energy export tariffs. Canada is also talking about specifically targetting U.S states that Trump won. Trying to hurt him politically.

It is going to backfire.

Actually, The EU and many many other countries started it all with Tariffs and VAT's
long ago. We finally have a president who is tired of the US getting screwed.
Life can be a bitch at times, huh?
