The Bundeswehr of the early 1970s that I knew up-close was a bit of a joke but after the Defeat they had to start someplace.

They run leaner-and-meaner and are much better equipped and motivated now so... the next decade will prove interesting.

Especially if Germany, France, Poland, the UK, and the rest of 'em are (and remain) pretty-much on the Same Page in future.
