I can't claim with absolute certainty what Trump knew. I dislike many things about Trump including his possible lack of personal morality. That being said, just like with Clinton, I am able to separate personal lifestyle choices from policy, and so far Trump's policies seem to be working.

Here’s where you couldn’t be more wrong. Tax cuts, accompanied by huge increases in government spending, goose the economy, making it appear that tax cut create jobs. They don’t. Increases in government spending creates jobs. That’s why governments run deficits during recessions. To prime that spending pump until the down-turn is over.

So although there is a temporary increase in spending, unless there is a permanent increase in income for working Americans, in the form of substantial increases in wages for the working and middle class, it’s a quick jolt and then nothing has changed.

That boost, based on desperate families quickly spending those one time bonuses. Like a sugar high for a diabetic, it will be followed by a stunning crash, and rather quickly without permanent increases in basic wages.

It makes no sense whatsoever for American businesses to absorb every cost increases for premises, equipment, insurance, raw materials, transportation, and executive wages, but be absolutely incapable of make concurrent increases in wages to their front line workers who produce their products, when every other first world country has managed to do so and remain competitive.
