That all ended on Jan. 6th 2021. Benedict Donald resorted to using violence as part of his effort to extra judicially over turn Bidens victory. So in a way, the Neo-GOP are already at war with the Constitutional order. Of course the old GOP were nearly as disgusted as the Dems were. But soon they circled the wagon and refused to even investigate event surrounding the attack on the Capitol and began the campaign of lies both big and small.

You historical perspective is skewed. If Benedict Donald's fail coup attempt was considered "Reichstag Fire" event, Biden would have seized total power within a few weeks. They would have arrested and incarcerated political opponents without specific charges, dissolve political organizations, and suppressed the media. No one was charged with insurrection. Several were arrested, charged and convicted of federal crimes stemming from that riot.

It was all an attempt to break up and scare away support for president Trump so democrats could stay in power.
