Trump declares a blockade of the Strait, takes Irans leverage away

It isn't going to happen. Delusions.
An hour from now, Trump's warnings will have done a complete 180° turn. He'll probably host a dinner party in Iran's honor. Then tomorrow, he'll be threatening to nuke them. Delusional people say delusional things.

Tomorrow he will be threatening Greenland again.

I suggested this on here very early. I hope he is right, this an international waterway and at least at worst, it will reinstate Americas global leadership US delegation departs Pakistan after peace talks with Iran fail
How would this achieve the free flow of commerce through to Strait?

In my opinion it was a mistake to agree to a ceasefire and a mistake to try to reach a deal with the current regime. Instead, the US should have told the ayatollahs, behave responsibly in the Strait of Hormuz or we will take it away from you, and if the ayatollahs don't comply, begin blowing up their ports and supporting infrastructure with 20 miles of the coast. This will prevent them from sustaining any elements of their navy that may remain and without function ports, the ayatollahs will not be able to engage in seaborne commerce. Then invite them to talks about terms under which they will be allowed access to the Gulf.

The ceasefire was a mistake. I believe that was Trump trying to be diplomatic and/or appease his critics. His critics cannot be appeased. He needs to stop thinking of his critics as rational or even mentally stable human beings.

He gave peace a chance, now whoever is running Iran now needs to die as quickly as possible.

... and America First, Conservatives. He literally turned on his base. His claims about the Strait of Hormuz and the status of his war change from hour to hour. Nobody can trust or believe a single thing he says.

Nonsense. Iran's nuclear weapons program had to be stopped and the longer we wait the higher to cost.

Thanks, Sean Hannity, for your Israel first, "news report."

The Art Of The Deal:

If Iran can't sell oil, they are bankrupt.
Iran is already effectively bankrupt.

AI Overview

Yes, Iran is experiencing its deepest and longest economic crisis, with its economy considered "shattered" or in tatters due to crippling international sanctions, extreme inflation (over 42-48% in 2025), a plummeting currency, and severe infrastructure deficits. Despite being rich in resources, widespread poverty and high energy costs have severely impacted the population. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Aspects of Iran's Economic Crisis:
  • Sanctions & Oil: Long-term, heavy sanctions—particularly from the U.S.—have restricted oil exports and restricted access to global markets.
  • Currency & Inflation: The Iranian rial has lost more than tenfold its value since 2018, leading to skyrocketing food and commodity prices.
    • Poverty Levels: Estimates suggest that between 22% and 50% of Iranians live under the poverty line.
    • Infrastructure & Deficit: Iran is facing an estimated $500 billion infrastructure deficit and an annual budget deficit, limiting its ability to invest in the economy.
    • Impact of Conflict: Recent conflicts, including strikes on infrastructure, have worsened the situation, with many citizens losing jobs. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
While Iran is not "bankrupt" in the traditional sense due to its substantial natural resources—such as oil, gas, and minerals—its government is financially constrained, struggling with domestic mismanagement, corruption, and the consequences of its international isolation. [1, 2]

How is that supposed to help the global economy and American prestige? Trump is running the country into the ground.
It will force other nations to care comrade. If they care, they will get their oil but only as long as everyone else does also.

Iran was doing a good job with their lego military videos. Now who will pay the creators of this content when they cannot sell anything?

They wanted to shut down the Strait? Ok, America will oblige.
