Trump could be making a major mistake today, as big as Obama's "beer gate" fiasco.

The audio has been out on social media all day. The helicopter was informed about the plane and was told to pass behind it. Current speculation is that the helicopter pilot confirmed a different plane and never saw the one they hit.

I am not an air traffic controller, but it would seem to me that if I see a helicopter whose current trajectory is going to cross very close to in front, behind, above or below an incoming aircraft, I ask him to stop and hold his position to avoid any risk. It is a helicopter after all, not an airplane.

So your grandson is an even worse rookie than you claim this pilot had? Catch a clue, please.
He isn’t flying Blackhawk helicopters. He isn’t qualified to fly twin engine planes. It goes to experience. And it was an ex pilot saying it is a concern. Why do facts bother you?

On: February 21, 2024 - 1 year before President Trump took over Montana's AG + 11 other AGs demanded that Joe Biden

In a letter sent Wednesday to FAA Administrator Michael Whitaker, the attorneys general outline their concerns with the Administration’s recent hiring practices and priorities. Rather than relying on candidates’ experience, education, and qualifications to set them apart, the FAA’s five-year strategic plan seeks diversify its workforce and hire candidates who “reflect the demographics of the U.S. labor force,” putting the safety of more than 2.9 million airline passengers in jeopardy.

Which I support 100%.
But if the people involved were longer term employees who were prior to Bidens DEI stupidity - then Trump is going to look really bad for saying all this.
Maybe he knows something, I don't know. But this was not a good move so early in.

I did not see the presser, but hopefully Trump blamed Biden and DEI hire Buttigieg.

The tower was understaffed, as usual.

"Reagan National has been understaffed for many years, with just 19 fully certified controllers as of September 2023 - well below the target of 30 - according to the most recent Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan submitted to Congress."

DEI started before Biden.
Of course it did. Another reason that poster I replied to was wrong.
And since white women have benefitted the most from the policy, whites were not denied anything.
Bull. Black men had preference over white men, and black women over white women.
DEI is not just about race, but it is easy to race-bait dumb white racist males who have an entitlement mentality.
No but it is not at all about merit and who is most qualified.
As for your last sentence, America is doomed because it has placed people in positions of higher responsibility based on having white skin and a dick.
In the past, yes and it was just as wrong then as it is today to give preferential treatment based on factors besides qualification and performance.

If we can get ourselves to meritocracy, aircraft will fly safely AND on time.

Again, Trump being trump surprises you?

Firing people who walked off the job endangering lives was superb

Making them work 2 shifts so they can't keep their eyes open endangers lives too as we just saw yesterday.

Perhaps the most highly controversial, domestic initiative was the firing of the air traffic controllers in August 1981. The President invoked the law that striking government employees forfeit their jobs, an action that unsettled those who cynically believed no President would ever uphold that law.

In the next 4 years Trump is going to take on private unions when they strike. He, and you, don't believe labor should have such power. And with no power at all guess what happens to their pay?

Never happened

We'll have to wait for the investigation.

In the meantime, feel free to make shit up.

But I can tell you from my personal military and aviation experience, the moment that accident occurred, the flight recordings were immediately seized and locked away, and every air traffic controller was directed to submit to an immediate urinalysis. The bodies of the dead pilots will also be tested for drugs.

Wait for the investigation.
A preliminary assessment has already been made. See post #46.

Trump being trump. Holy shit, are you kidding?

I'm not kidding, and I'm still a huge advocate. Doesn't change my mind at all. But he did very well on the campaign being a little more disciplined. What he said would have been perfect if he would just have added, we're going to find out if any of these DEI hires had anything to do with the crash.

But yeah, he didn't destroy anything. He just flew a little close to the sun

This is Trump's military. Happened on his watch.

Reminds me of when Jeffrey Epstein hung himself in Trump's Federal Prison system and Republicans still blamed the Clinton's for it. Not Trump. Not the guy who actually had the power to get to Jeffrey. Or the guy seen partying with him. Or the guy who flew more times on Lolita Express than anyone else.

Reminds me of when trains were derailing because of regulations Trump lifted.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday called onformer President Trump to support the Biden administration inreversing Trump-era deregulations in the wake of the derailment ofa train carrying hazardous chemicals in Ohio.“One thing he can do is express support for reversing thederegulation that happened on his watch. I heard him say he hadnothing to do with it, even though it was in his administration. So, ifhe had nothing to do with it and they did it in his administrationagainst his will, maybe he can come out and say that he supportsus moving in a different direction,”
So Trump is responsible for everything that goes on in his administration? Good! I fully agree

You realize that means that you cannot complain about who hires and who he fires. You can’t say “it’s all on you because you’re the boss” and then take away his power to run things.

In particular, the mid and lower level managers at the bureau of prisons who somehow managed to have cameras that shut down at the exact moment of Jeffrey Epstein‘s death. Maybe if they had spent less money on helping prisoners be transgender and more on security equipment it wouldn’t have happened?

Or the mid and lower level management at the justice department that’s spend time investigating Trump on charges that turned out to be falsified Instead of arresting, illegal migrants and turning them over to be deported.

I guess I don’t need to sell it, though. I’m sure you completely agree with me and there will be no argument about that.

Who held up his nominee?
Why did they hold him up? Did his family warn that he's a piece of shit?

Penelope Hegseth told her son in the email that there are “many” women whom he has “abused in some way” and encouraged him to “get some help,”

And then there's RFK Jr.

Trump's firing everyone. Perhaps too soon. Perhaps he is doing such a bad job people are quitting on him before he can find a replacement. We told you he wasn't fit or qualified. Neither are the people he appoints. Don't blame us. We can't stop him from appointing scumbags. He has all the power.

And when you put idiots in charge of these important cabinet positions or to run these important agencies and departments you don't think it matters that they are unqualified. You think anyone can run the Department of Education or Defense Dept. Well guess what? When it blows up in your face, it's YOUR FAULT.

God help us if we have another pandemic and RFK Jr. is in charge.

I think it's funny you guys understand that the current president isn't always to blame for what's going on. Like inflation. It wasn't Biden's fault.

Look what Bill Maher said last year:

The country’s current “inflationary spiral” can also be traced back to COVID-19, Maher said, describing the trillions of dollars the government issued throughout the pandemic. This, he noted, should not be pinned on President Joe Biden, but his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.

“We’re going to bring back Trump?” he asked. “The guy who ignored COVID like it was the dinner check? Talk about not learning anything.”

Or Christie and DeSantis in 2023

Ron DeSantis and Chris Christie Call Out Trump for Adding to Federal Debt

"He owes it to you to defend his record where they added $7.8 trillion to the debt that set the stage for the inflation that we have."
