However, I kind of admire the pursuit of excellence and hardcore competition, with the understanding that the score is not the only thing someone can gain from the experience, whether on the field or off the field.

Not suggesting that there are not a bunch of spoiled babies involved who never really learn much of anything outside of how to game the system, and milk as much money as they can get out whatever talent they have, but that is not uncommon on any field or life in general.

But oh well, some people still have a love for the game and competition, but that's not always what sells tickets nowadays, as our world slowly devolves into a wicked cage match, where the rules are disregarded if there is a folding chair handy.

Those that "do" are less susceptible to it than those who merely dream, and that is the difference entering the field and accepting the challenge makes.

Some people, even those in sports, never really learn that.

Again, you have a grasp of the problem, but that is not all that is required to actually fix it.
So, you can either sit down, be complacent making an excuse, or stand up and meet the challenge.

I would not try to fool you and suggest that's going to be easy.

Teaching your children how to avoid the conflict, when possible, and keep their bearings as their responsibility without worrying about everyone else, might be more effective in getting them where they need to go. Simply making sure they only understand that everything in this world is unsurmountable, because you really cannot save the entire world, probably isn't going to do them much good.

Well as much crap as he has helped generate, I hope so, although he kind of lost my interest in his ability to ski before he ever hit the slopes, and smooth move Ex-Lax, because you shit yourself in front of everybody and got it all over the place.

No matter how well he manages to do on the slopes, he'll go down in history for shitting himself worldwide.
