Trump budget would slash rental aid by 40% — and let states fill the gap if they want

Technically we could eliminate everything including Social Security and Medicare, and balance the budget quite easily. You would need an act of Congress though.
Those programs have been paid in for by seniors for 40 years. Let’s start with the charity programs, where single parents get thousands of dollars of benefits and haven’t paid in a cent.

Its still just another giveaway paid for by taxes, but that means your axe would be gored.

states fill the gap...if they want

I get it. But why stop here. Why not end subsidies for "everything" ?

President Trump has repeatedly promised to "make America affordable again." But for those Americans most in need, his administration's latest budget plan would dramatically shrink the federal rental aid that helps keep millions of people housed.

In its request for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the White House called the current system of federal rental assistance "dysfunctional" and proposed essentially ending Section 8 and other housing voucher programs. Its plan calls for cutting rental aid by about 40% and sending that money to states "to design their own rental assistance programs based on their unique needs and preferences."

Why should I pay your rent, deadbeat?

Maybe, we wouldn't need rental aid and soft drink food stamps, if we brought back America's manufacturing base?

No it’s not. You’ve previously shown your disdain for senior citizens, who have contributed to society for 50 years or more, so naturally you’d want to target programs for them.

I say we should target programs that are totally funded by OPM - and go to people who have never had a job, and have multiple kids with multiple fathers. Let them get a job.

Way too much federal money been pouring into housing vouchers for the irresponsible who can pay $500 for nails and braids but won’t pay for their housing.

When you think about it, it's a vicious cycle of inflation when the government subsidizes something like housing. Landlords know that people can get assistance from the government and will therefore raise their rental rates to compensate for that, which in turn contributes to other increases in costs as well. If we cut all subsidizing, landlords would have to accept what the market could bear, and it would lower housing costs. which would in turn lower other costs. The government needs to stay out of the business of handing out money altogether, it would fix many issues.

That would mean that the 2-bedroom apartments he’s getting $3,500 for - for a 40-year-old building, with baby toys in the curb and trash in the side - would plummet to around $1700.

Which would be a good thing. The price for a so-so working-class apartment would be affordable by a working couple. No subsidies needed.

Exactly.

Yup. We would have self-supporting people, save taxpayer money, and discourage deadbeats.
It creates perpetual deadbeats who dont addd much to a $750k neighborhood with 8 of them in there paying $200 each on a $5000 rental plus the non self sufficient (and not trying to be) are likely on food stamps and more

What does states' funding of anything have to do with MAGA? You have MAGA on the brain.
It made a declaration about its property ownership. I asked it a very easy question that any true property owner would know and it didn’t
