I don't view Trump as you describe. I disagree when he flip flops and if he backs away and/or proceeds in a way I don't think is good for America and the West. I judge people on policies, not personality per se.

The short answer is that America and the West need to win. Whether economically or WWIII it will either be America or China, that's the binary choice. I choose America and always support your elected leader.

Not the point. We don't make cell phones, so in a world conflagration, we would not be able to even get them. Manufacturing essential products here is a matter of national security.

If you knew ANYTHING about economics, you should know they are cyclical. Exactly why PYTD, and YoY are economic terms. YoY is used to compare to "this time last year" and also this time last year compared to another data point.
When Trump became President the markets reacted as expected - they went up - a lot. About 2000 points. An expected adjustment for that occurred late Feb to March as the reality of a not so great economy, and Ukraine/Russia.
Then the tariffs, the Market was going to hate that 1000%. Because at least a third of our countries wealth building is made from investors investing - HEAVY - into Chinese slave labor.
The last thing they want is to stop that gravy train.
Todays news of a pause while negotiations occur, coupled with the massive-massive news if the EU drops their tariffs and reduces VAT on U.S. products would be an incredible win.
Thus the almost 3000 point gain in a matter of hours - the highest market gains in 16 years.

BUT - of course, CNN paints this as negative - and you all slurp that right up.
