Trump at funeral service

I would have loved it if he invited Putin as his special guest.

Respect for Bush is hatred?
Despite your attempt to act like it, you're not stupid. Your passive aggressive attempt to take a political jab at one while offering a compliment to another was not as ignored as you might have hoped / intended.
Oh I figured a brilliant poster like you would pick it up

When the Berlin Wall came down his staff came to him and told him he had to fly there immediately, to be part of the historical event / celebration. he told them 'NO'. He did not spike any political football. He said, 'And say what? This is THEIR moment. This is THEIR time.'

"When Bush's advisers urged him to visit Berlin to celebrate the end of the 30-year-old barrier between East and West, the president declined. "What would I do?" he asked. "Dance on the wall?"

He preferred to take a subdued approach, to prove to Gorbachev and Kohl that he would help them manage a complex and dangerous situation, not make things more difficult for them.

"Looking back," former Secretary of State James Baker wrote on cnn.com this week, "one of President Bush's outstanding traits has been his humility, and particularly his insistence after the Iron Curtain fell that Americans not gloat about our victory in the decades-long Cold War against the Soviet empire.

It's a lesson on how much is possible if leaders use common sense, show strength when necessary, demonstrate goodwill toward each other, and make an effort not to exploit every event to gain an advantage."

The McCains told President Trump to stay away, are you saying that they don't have honor and empathy?
President Trump honored 41 by transporting his body from Texas on AF1. he is in attendance out of respect and remaining silent/not being one of the Eulogizers in an effort to NOT make this day / event about him. Whether he attended or not there would be those who are constantly attacking him no matter what he does who would have done so today.

He should get up and lead the audience in a "lock her up" cheer for Hillary.

Fox News coverage now!

The Bush Family really hates President Trump's guts, I'm surprised they didn't ask him to stay home.
They have more honor and empathy in their family than the trumps ever could

Honor but with a mean streak A little like me Pole

You do realize you voted against all of those things
You do realize you are a lying sack of snowflake shite, right? I spent 30 years serving my country...and am still doing so. Besides be a lying liberal asshole, what have you done with your life?

Everything you say here is in opposition to unity, diversity, and generosity. I din’t care how long you served. You were compensated for it, and you’re an asshole.

Did you see the footage of Bob Dole paying his respects yesterday?
Saw the clip last night.

I can tell he had his own demise on his mind.

He seemed truly sad for his friend though.

We are only here for so long, but these filthy rich cats have access to the best health care possible, and all the American financial resources at their disposal, so they get to live extremely long lives.

They can't complain.

"Most of all, President Bush embodied kindness. As we age, we seem to grow into our core character – for better or worse. For President Bush, he seemed to grow into his fundamental kindness.

This was manifest in major public actions like co-leading humanitarian missions with President Bill Clinton, and in small everyday gestures. Over the years of knowing him, I heard so many stories of his acts of empathy – standing up to a bully in his teenage years, bringing a Jewish friend to break the restrictions at a local country club, writing a letter to a distant friend in a time of need.

There are literally thousands of acts of kindness that people around the world remember of President George H.W. Bush. And every interaction I ever saw with him demonstrated this fundamental spirit of personal generosity and graciousness."

Fmr. Points of Light CEO: George H.W. Bush’s thousands of acts of kindness built a meaningful life

One thing that really sticks out to me here are the words: "As we age, we seem to grow into our core character – for better or worse."

Jimmy Carter was a horrible President, not for a lack of trying or intent. He blossomed and became an AMAZING man / humanitarian after he left office. I truly believe his Presidency was a 'stepping stone', an 'enabler' to him becoming who he was truly meant to be and do for others what he was truly meant to do. In many ways, from so many who talked about GHWB, he seemed to, as the author from above wrote, 'seemed to grow into his fundamental kindness'.

I imagine he will be hearing, "Well done, my good and faithful servant" very soon, if he has not already. I definitely hope so.
