Trump Ally Ken Paxton Escalates Texas Redistricting Fight With Call For Beto O’Rourke To Be Jailed

Man With A Plan is wrong as usual.

They will redistrict in CA in heartbeast.
Really? You might want to check the laws on that, John...they actually can't. If they want to change the way redistricting is done they have to put on the ballot and have people vote on it.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton ratcheted up President Donald Trump’s congressional redistricting fight by calling Tuesday for progressive activist Beto O’Rourke to be put “behind bars” for helping Democrats who have managed to block the GOP’s gerrymandering efforts with an extended walkout.

Hours earlier, Texas Republican leaders said they were prepared to end their stalemated special session that includes the proposed new maps and immediately begin another standoff with Democratic legislators. Dozens of Democrats have left the state to prevent their GOP colleagues from voting on the changes and meeting Trump’s demands ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The developments are the latest escalations in a battle that began in Austin and now reaches into multiple courtrooms and statehouses controlled by both major parties.

The last time I checked, Free Speech is protected under the First Amendment and according Republicans consider money free speech. O'Rourke is a pain in Paxton's butt. But he still has the right to free speech.
If he violated the court order to stop the fundraising he should be held in contempt, and potentially jailed

Nobody is above the law

Believe Newsom or Man With A Plan.

Of course believe Newsom. Believe me always.

Man With A Plan is just mouthy nothing else.

"While most other states give redistricting authority to their legislatures, California uses a bipartisan citizen commission created by voters through a ballot measure. So to usurp the commission and implement more Democratic-leaning districts, Newsom must call a statewide special election and go back to the voters."

Oh, John...don't you get tired of me dunking on you? How many times do I have to show you up before you learn your lesson? I don't post about things I don't know about. :)

Gee everyone does it and has done it. let us see what republican have done

The Republican Party of Texas is pressing ahead with its effort to prevent Democrats from voting in GOP primaries, advancing a rule change intended to limit participation to registered Republicans only

the GOP’s commitment to allowing only Republicans to choose Republican nominees.

This is a new rule that republicans are pushing but what is the difference. Its a republican primary. A republican will be chosen. Why are they afraid.

I would imagine that Republicans can vote in Democrats primaries.

Since this is obviously an effort for closed primaries. It does go both ways.

“Only Republicans should pick Republican says Republicans

the Democrats can come over and choose the weakest Republican is their complaint. Yet Republicans can choose the weakest canidate

IF republican canidates lose, it not the democrats, its the republican voters and the effort to get out the vote. Well actually is just reflects that there are more democrats in Texas than republicans.

Its the people who vote that win elections not being cry babies and yelling foul

well here is the real story
Democrats significantly outnumber Republicans in Texas voter registration, with 8,133,683 Democrats (46.52%) compared to 6,601,189 Republicans (37.75%) - a difference of over 1.5 million registered voters [1]

Republicans in California have done the same thing since at least 2008. The son of my wife's best friend was at the time a registered Libertarian and wanted to cross over to vote John McCain. He was talking this over dinner his Mother while both them had come to visit. I listened to him and asked he would re-register as a Republican and he said no. I told the California Republican does not allow for cross=over voting. He laughed and said he could vote for who he wanted. After the primary, where he was NOT allowed voted for McCain he called me and how corrupt the system was. I told it was up the state party to decide how it ran the election. He said how unfair that election was. "Next time, just re-register for the general election and afterward go to your original party." I told him it was legal and he did exactly that. The CAREP still holds closed primaries.

I know many Dems who do that in Utah, register GOP to influence the primaries, and then go Dem in the Nov election,

That's why Curtis is Senator from Utah.

The Dems are planning something for Lee in Utah in 2028 if he runs again.,

Great. He should be jailed. They should all be jailed.
