Trump administration briefed top Republicans before Iran strikes, but not Democrats

Is anyone surprised to see Dems furious and trying to remove the President for taking out Iran's nuclear weapons program? These animals are agents of Iran, no different then Hamas.
remember, the demofks paid for Hamas and Hezbollah and the funding to enrich unranium. That pallet of money softly placed in Tehran by obammy

Dems are making squeaking peach-mints noises again. :laughing0301:

AOC, furious Dems call for Trump to be impeached over Iran strikes

Progressive Squad Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a chorus of Democrats called on President Trump to be impeached after he decided to bomb top nuclear facilities of Iran — blasting the move as “unconstitutional.”

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) declared not long after Trump announced the attack.

“He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

AOC should have an adult read the relevant parts of The Constitution to her.

President Donald Trump and his team were in contact with top congressional Republicans before his strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, but top Democrats were not told of his plans until after the bombs had dropped, according to multiple people familiar with the plans.

The top two Republicans in Congress, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, were both notified of the US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities ahead of time, according to multiple GOP sources.

But Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries received notifications shortly before the public announcement — and after the attack itself, people familiar with the notifications said. Sen. Mark Warner and Rep. Jim Himes, the top Democrats on the Senate and House intelligence committees, were similarly not told until after the strikes had occurred, sources said.

For the life of me, I can't imagine why Trump didn't tell the Dem leaders before the strike. It's almost like he doesn't trust them to put their country ahead of betraying it for cheap political gain. Weird, huh?...

They were put all back of the bus. ;)
He notified the two majority leaders. That was sufficient. I am personally happy they were Republican as I am very skeptical that any modern day Democrat is trustworthy to put American interests ahead of their obvious anti-American mindset.

Leavitt said Schumer was notified and Fah Keem wasn't located until later.
Well she hasn't gotten anything wrong that I have observed yet, so that's probably the way it was.

But was it before or after the event?

According to "The Hill":

". . .Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said on Sunday that congressional leaders were informed of the strikes after “the planes were safely out” of Iranian airspace, adding that the administration’s actions “complied with the notification requirements of the War Powers Act.”

Some reports have indicated that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) were briefed about the strikes. But House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) has criticized the administration for not seeking congressional approval and has called for Congress to be “fully and immediately briefed” on the strikes in a classified setting, in a statement shortly after the attacks."

I'm pretty sure the Democrats didn't fault Obama for notifiying Congress after the assassination of Bin Laden. When you don't dare compromise a mission with leaks, you don't want Congress to know until after the fact.

"This is Fake News. The White House made bipartisan courtesy calls to Congressional Leadership and spoke to @SenSchumer before the strike. @RepJeffries could not be reached until after, but he was briefed. @CNN please retract," Leavitt wrote.

White House calls CNN 'fake news' for report claiming Democratic leadership wasn't briefed on Iran strike
Just one more incentive to be very very careful what you believe re what the media is reporting.

Dante’s Tenth Circle

by

In Ravenna, Italy, archivists recently discovered a lost canto of Dante’s Inferno — what appears to be the tenth circle of Hell. The ninth circle was previously understood to be the lowest point of Hell reached by Dante and his guide Virgil before ascending on their journey toward Paradise. A portion of the 14th-century manuscript, translated into English prose, is reproduced below.

- - -
“Virgil,” I cried, “Those shades—burning, immersed in human excrement, trapped in icy waters. I thought I had witnessed the basest of all sinners. So who are these figures I now see? Do my eyes betray me, or are their heads fully absorbed in the derrières of others? And who are these individuals whose bottoms are swollen due to the immense size of the heads there immersed?”

“Your reaction is sound,” he replied, “for it is an atrocious sin these shades have committed. Those whose enlarged heads are occupying the derrières of others were graduate students while they lived. As you well know, sinners must eternally suffer the wrong they committed in life; and thus their heads are swollen from illusions of grandeur. As for the position of these heads, I need only reveal the identity of second group: tenured professors. While alive, these elders allowed many heads to be consumed in their rear ends, and they now endure this punishment eternally.”

I wished to flee from the sight, but many questions still burned within me. Virgil sensed my desire to understand. “Go on,” he urged, “you may speak directly to the shades. But make haste, as I fear that you will contract that wretched condition of pretentiousness by proxy.”

I cautiously approached the shade closest to me, standing tense so as not to tremble: “What was your discipline?” I asked. “What brought you to this place?” The shade’s head was fully obscured, so his professor spoke for him as he had done, too, in life: “This student occupied himself with the implications of Heideggerian philosophy in contemporary humanistic discourse,” he responded.

There ended that interaction as I could not have cared any less than I did in that moment.

I stopped then at an elderly derrière, wrinkled from its years of experience yet swollen more than any other I had yet seen. “And why is it that your behind is inflated more than all the others?” I inquired. The professor responded: “this shade was my pupil, studying toward a PhD in postmodern reinterpretations of 11th-century lyric poetry.”

I was slowly beginning to comprehend. The more inconsequential a field of study, the more swollen the head, and in turn, the derrière.

Sensing that I understood, my guide urged me to join him and leave this terrible circle. But there remained one shade I could not ignore. A unique sight, her head was not in the rear end of another shade. Instead, she was contorted in a way I did not think feasible—her head was inserted into her very own posterior. I briefly paused, turning toward Virgil, but his back was to me; he did not dare look.

“Why is your body distorted so,” I asked, “with your head in your own rear end?” I could barely make out the response, for the sound was muffled as it passed through the derrière. As I recall, I heard but three letters: MFA.

After witnessing this horrific spectacle, I resolved to rejoin to my guide. “Virgil,” I wept, “Let us return to the circles we have already passed. I would sooner burn in fire, rot in excrement, or freeze in an icy lake than spend another second with these miserable, putrid shades.”

Of course not.... The moment they heard about it they would all be on the telephones to Iran.
We have seen this play out before.

Don't you find it the least bit troubling that Trump hides what he does from at least half the government?

As a liar, it is appropriate that you would repeat the lying scum in the DISGUSTING FILTH.

It has already been established that CNN (communist news network) LIED in that report. An out and out lie bald-faced lie. A provably false lie.

Which defines your life -- A lie.

Only the half he defeated and humiliated.
Cool response but it only lends credibility to the lie the lying scumbag claimed in his post.

Trump DID notify leadership on both sides. dimocraps are lying scum.... Period.

Don't you find it the least bit troubling that Trump hides what he does from at least half the government?
Nope..... He has no choice the only thing they do with their knowledge is try to sabotage whatever it is he's doing. If they had been informed of the Iran strike prior to it happening they would have tripped over themselves to call the Ayatollah and warn him giving Iran time to position additional complex air defense systems that may have cost the lives of American airmen. Don't you find that the least bit troubling? Don't answer that I already know you don't.

Oh they most definitely would have given it up.
Those assholes probably have a hotline straight to Tehran. We all know Valerie Jarrett does.

If you all wandered outside of your echo chamber once in a while, would you be less stupid, or is it too late?

Don't you find it the least bit troubling that Trump hides what he does from at least half the government?
In this case he hid what he was doing from Democrats so no one leaked anything that might endanger US servicemen.
Why do you take exception to this?
