One minor point that bugs the hell out of me is how everyone keeps saying Canada would be the “51st state”

In the extremely unlikely event that Canada joined the USA, it would join as multiple states.

Maybe not every province would become its own state (sorry Prince Edward Island), but provinces like Ontario and Alberta would obviously be admitted as individual states.

We’d have close to 60 states when all was said and done.
