The last anyone heard was they carry a Gen 5 Glock 19.....So it looks like "Glock Leg".
Until your post, I had not heard the term "Glock Leg". But, after looking it up, I can understand how it happens, as a negligent discharge. I have not had a negligent discharge with a weapon, but have seen it, not only by new shooters, but by experienced shooters, even what most might describe as expert shooters, well-trained in weapons handling. I can understand it being even more prevent with weapons that do not have a manual safety, though in actuality, I have only seen negligent pistol discharge of weapons that did have a manual safety, though not engaged at the time.
I carry. My weapon of choice is a Walther PPQ M2, another striker fired weapon that does not have a manual safety, but as I have said, I have never had a negligent discharge. I put on, my holster before picking up my pistol. I religiously clear and function check my weapon when picking it up off the bed stand before putting it into my shoulder holster. One of the things I like about my should holster is that it is always underneath my left arm, pointing to the rear. When a holster or draw my weapon, the barrel is never pointing to any part of me. If you don't want stand behind when I am drawing or holstering, I completely understand and avoid anyone standing behind me, when I do it. But, come what may, I will never be the self victim of a Glock Leg negligent discharge of the pistol point down my leg with a holster on my hip or (heaven forbid) a nut/dick shot, using and appendix carry holster.
All possible jokes aside, while I do not consider myself currently any kind of weapons expert, my general assumption, is that anyone who is a Secret Service Officer on protective detail of a President or President's family, most likely is a weapons expert, trained by the best, tested among the best, and highly experienced in weapons handling, usage and safety. Damn, I am glad I am not the guy laying in bed, recovering, knowing I am facing a professional review panel, over this momentary brain fart.
