The British did not have the authority to "give" the land to anyone, that was in the terms of the mandate. But the LoN of which Britain was a part did have the right to give the land to the Jews.

The land was owned by the Ottoman Empire until it was passed to the league of nations as reparations for WW1. This took place in 1919 and was called the Treaty of Versailles

It was a coordinated action between the Jewish Agency and the UNPC; in the planning since January 1948 and first meeting reported to the Security Council.

Again, receiving land was not a relevant issue for Israel DOI. That is a pre requisite that YOU MADE UP. And no, Israel does not sit on Palestinian land in Palestine. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Israel has internationally recognized borders with Egypt and Jordan. Israel is a sovereign state recognized by the UN. Even the PA recognizes Israel beyond the 67 borders.
