Thumbs Down On Trump Taking the Qatar 747!

Trump knows that the 747 would be owned by the Department of Defense, like the others.

My recommendation is as follows:
1. Take the free 747 from Qatar
2. Auction it to the highest bidder, as-is, with no upgrades.
3. Take the revenue and put it toward payment for the two new Boeing 747s to be delivered in 2027
4. Give one of the old retiring 747s to the Trump library. win-win-win
The new AF1 were paid for a long time ago. The USAF doesn't even own the current aircraft.

President Trump should not take the $400 million Boeing 747 as a gift from Qatar to replace Air Force One. The primary reason has to with the character and values that a U.S. President should always exhibit. America is the greatest country on earth it has been abundantly blessed by God in a league unto itself. The President of the United States is the leader of this awesome country his actions as President should rise to the level of the stature of the country and not only be guided by principle but always give the impression that they are. Accepting a gift of this size tarnishes the integrity of President Trump it can raises the issue in reasonable people's minds that he is possibly inclined to favor the country of Qatar in Presidential decisions contrary to what principles call for. The wrongdoing here is in perception and such a perception is relevant because issues lie with Qatar where a bias could make a difference; one being the U.S. has a major air base in Qatar if a peace deal is reached in the Ukrainian War and a European Union peace keeping force is established on the armistice line and the U.S. is drafted to protect this peace keeping force sensible judgment could call for a downgrade on the resourcing of this Qatar base and an upgrade of resourcing U.S. bases closer to Ukraine, a Qatar biased President might not follow common wisdom here based on that bias! Also, a President should protect the Office of the Presidency, he or she should not establish precedents that weaken the office; accepting gifts of humongous monetary value would then justify future Presidents doing the same a President sanctioning such behavior weakens the Office of the Presidency it subjects it to be unduly influenced by such gifts. Further, good leaders try to follow the same rules that rank and file in their organization have to follow; rank and file members of the U.S. government have to follow ethics rules where there is a prohibition against receiving gifts. President Trump contrary to the spin is in reality violating this ethical rule which is not displaying the quality of leadership the American people would hope their President would display!

One thing that really doesn't make too much sense to me is the taking on this controversy really worth it to President Trump I mean from the standpoint of the following this Qatar 747 is going to have to be turned into an Air Force One (Suitable for the President) plane meaning that U.S. authorities have to take this Qatat 747 and add a missile defense system too it; harden the structure of the plane so it can fly through a nuclear radiation cloud and the occupants of the plane won't be killed or severely sickened by radiation, add sophisticated communication which a President needs and add the technology that allows the plane to be refueled in the air, this will probably take the better part of two years so President Trump will have a luxurious 747 for the last two years of his term is this short period of reward worth tarnishing your reputation for integrity over, I don't think so! Today, CNN reported that the cost to do everything that will need to be done to the Qatar 747 plane to make it an Air Force One plane will be $750 million dollars, apparently the plane needs to be completely disassembled to check for listening devices and then reassembled; if Trump takes the Qatar 747 gift and pursues the modification with this price tag it will really set him up for great ridicule because he has repeatedly bragged about how he did an outstanding job in negotiating for the new Air Force One planes from Boeing how Boeing originally quoted over $5 billion for them and how he President Trump stood his ground and wouldn't go to four billion or higher and how he prevailed with the deal ending up being $3.999 billion. People will say why didn't Trump just agree to $4.75 billion for the new Air Force One planes Boeing wouldn't have gotten a fair profit out of the deal and been incentivized to fill the order quickly and Trump would probably have new Air Force One planes right now he could fly around in instead of twelve to forty year old Boeings that are not near the same quality of plane!
I was looking for a thread about your contempt with Obama over this.

The Saudi royal family is the most generous giver, accounting for about $1.3 million in goodies, with the late King Abdullah spending more than a million dollars on baubles for Michelle Obama.

Converting luxury jet gifted to Trump into Air Force One could cost hundreds of millions

14 May 2025 ~~ By Haley Britzky, Alex Marquardt, Zachary Cohen and Katie Bo Lillis,

Converting a luxury jet gifted by Qatar to President Donald Trump into a replacement for Air Force One could potentially cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and it could take up to two years to install the necessary security equipment, communications and defensive capabilities for it to be safely used by the commander in chief, current and former officials told CNN.
Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said Tuesday that the plane "poses significant espionage and surveillance problems." Across the aisle, Democratic Sen. Jack Reed, ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said accepting it would pose "immense counterintelligence risks by granting a foreign nation potential access to sensitive systems and communications."

. Overhauling it, according to administration estimates the person has been briefed on, could cost as much as three times that, or more.
Even if used temporarily as Trump has said he would, US agencies would need to ensure there were no security vulnerabilities by essentially stripping the aircraft down to its frame and rebuilding it with the necessary communications and security equipment.

Commentary;
Pres. Trump may accept the gift on behalf of the U.S. but probably never use the plane for traveling.
Marxist Democrats in their inimitable manner try to make mountains out of mole hills.
Where is DOGE when you need them most? At the end of Trumps term, the airplane goes to the Trump Foundation.
An absolute waste of money, do you not agree?

^^ask this guy

For all those who mistakenly claim that it will require Congress to approve accepting the Saudi gift, let’s get a few things straight.

The emoluments clause doesn’t pertain since it is a gift to the USA, not a personal gift to the President.

There is a law which does (sometimes) require that Congress approve of accepting a gift. But that law is written clearly:

See The Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act (5 U.S.C. § 7342).

In pertinent part it restricts federal employees (including the President) from accepting gifts from foreign governments unless (among other things):

The gift is accepted on behalf of the United States and not personally, and then turned over to the federal government.

When the Adults are trying to have fun at a party or trying to do something useful/creative, they will often give the children something silly to do or to play with..... Coloring Books, Comics....

This is it.

Then again it may eventually be used to transport Democrat politicians in the future. I don't think they would be whining then.
This is "Much Ado About Nothing".

"The Statue of Liberty, a gift from the people of France, arrived in America on June 17, 1885. The French people presented the statue to recognize America as a champion of liberty and to encourage the French to support the same ideals. This act of goodwill was a commemoration of the alliance forged between France and the United States during the American Revolution.

Originally, the statue was meant to be located in Egypt, specifically at the entrance of the Suez Canal. Designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the statue depicted an “Egyptian peasant in Muslim garments.” However, Egyptian officials rejected the proposal, deeming it too expensive.

In terms of financing, while France paid for the statue itself, the United States was responsible for building its pedestal. This joint effort between the two countries solidified their commitment to liberty and friendship.

The statue was officially presented to the United States in a ceremony held in Paris on July 4, 1884. The completed Statue of Liberty was handed over to the U.S. ambassador as a symbol of the enduring friendship between France and the United States."

Hmmm Then four short years later they piss all over the idea of liberty from 1889 to 1899 French Revolution.

Hmmm
The Statue of Liberty is completely different than Shitler! accepting a airplane bride.

The public can tour the SoL and remark on its anti-maga rhetoric. Can the public fly the Muslim’s old jet?

Trump hasn't even left office yet and you are already bitching about what he might do. TDS runs deep in you democrat-hangers.
The terms of the “gift” are spelled out. Once Trump leaves office, the plane is transferred to his library. This isn’t a supposition or some thing that’s been made up. This is some thing that Trump has stated.
Read my lips ------------ ➡️IT HASN'T HAPPENED!⬅️

Oh lol …no your way off

There is no law in Qatar requiring a women to ask a “guardian” for permission to work…. You just post walls of nothing burgers. I’ve backed all of my points up with sourced material.
