If this shooter had succeeded in killing DJT yesterday, there would have been riots in the street all night last night and all day today. Riots from both sides of the political spectrum.

Instead of bringing people together, it would have been the tough off of a level of violence we havebt seen since the War of Northern Aggresst.

Would there have been clashes ? It was reported that shortley afterwards, some of the crowd started menacing the press box until cooler heads prevailed ?

What would the GOP have done ?

Would the election have been delayed to give the GOP time to chose a new candidate (and of course, the same question comes up....what if Joe Biden dies of a heart attack on September 1st ?).

I am voting for Trump and I want him to win.

But I don't want a civil war.

I also can't think of who would take his place. It forces to me to really wonder what it is that DJT can do that nobody else can do.

I don’t want a civil war either. I am a lifelong Washington, DC native and resident and see much of the vitriol filed by extremists on both sides over the last 20 years has been unnecessary. I think there are more personal, bitter rivalries that exist within the parties. The US and Washington are at their best when both sides fight and debate passionately YET also Compromise. Another thing is to accept outcomes and that elections have consequences.

If primaries have not been held yet, a particular party might need to push back the events to allow a new pool of candidates to step into the arena. If a convention has already selected a candidate who ends up being unable to run, that particular party would then need to select someone new — and both the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee have different ways of going forward.

I could care less about streetwalkers and your obsession with raping children. Unless they are my children, I am unaffected for the most part, other than my desire to see their rapist drawn and quartered.

However, if Trump was assassinated, it does affect me so I am asking the question.

It would have been an interesting convention. I suspect Gov. Youngkin would become the nominee.

I would hope Desantis would be able to slide in as the nominee. He was in 2nd place when he dropped out of the race for the nomination. Nikki Haley had 2nd place after that only because everyone else had dropped out, but she had money to continue from Democrat donors.
