I had some unpleasant conversations with pro-abortion advocates on another board, so I'm trying to be a little more open-minded on the issue. Still, the reality is that as long as you have disagreements on when life begins, laws against abortion are going to be meaningless.
A law that is not agreed to will be broken. This should have been the lesson of Prohibition, which only passed because of War Hysteria during WWI. As soon as people realized what happened to them, they came up with inventive ways to break the law.
We see the same thing with prostitution laws. Illegal in 49 states, but these laws are largely ignored by strip clubs, massage parlors, escort services, etc.
