Third Party, Anyone?

Imagine that the two major parties didn't exist. Which political party would you join?

I'd start my own party, Neo-Socialist Nationalists or something, but the real objective would be to make me dictator for life.

Dont know dont care. Although we may be having a major political realignment after Kerry gets knocked out this election. We could bring the Democrat party to its knees for the next generation with a landslide. Think about it.

I hope so. I hope the Democratic party comes close to imploding. Perhaps then, in a few years, we'll have two parties legitimately debating relevant issues like sane individuals.

Hopefully. But then again we may just have a bunch of radicals upset that they cant cheat themselves into power anymore and who start open rebellion against the United States.

American Patriot Party - The APP is a new entity, founded in 2003. The party "is founded on the basic principals set forth by our founding fathers, that the federal government should only have the powers set forth in the framework of the Constitution and all other power to be delegated back to the states. Although everyone has thier own opinions on all issues, we believe it is up to the states to decide what should and should not be mandated, banned or regulated." The APP supports a crackdown on illegal immigration, making English fluency a requirement of US citizenship, abolishing the IRS and repealing the federal income tax, imposing steeper taxes and tariffs on imported goods, abolition of the centralized Federal Reserve System, withdrawing the US from the Untied Nations, imposing a foreign policy of non-interventionism, and ending federal involvement in education. No candidates fielded to date, but the APP have formed a party chapter in one state and are organizing chapters in several others. The APP vows that their candidates will be "statesmen, not politicians."

Libertarian. Though my stands on drugs are not in line with theirs. On most other issues, I'm close. I go GOP because I am extrememly competetive and like to win. The Libertarians don't stand a chance, though their influence is felt on both sides.

Kathianne, I think I'm with you. I describe myself as a libertarian-leaning Republican often.

Basically would have to say the same thing. The Constitution Party is interesting also, good basic idea. I think they just need to realize that the country has grown a bit since it was founded and some slight variations are needed after 200+ years.
