They Said Biden Wouldn’t Come for Our Guns. The Plan Says Otherwise.

That is what Virginia requires of new drivers, show they know the rules and take a road test. There are plenty of drivers and no one is trying to take away their cars.
Interesting analogy. Driving isn't a right. Owning firearms is. Isn't that what they tell people when they ***** about having to get a license to drive? Driving isn't a right.

Do you need a license to buy a car?

Carrying it in public does since I'm the public.
Is that what you were discussing? Carrying firearms in public? Because it seemed like you were talking about requirements to own a firearm?

Because if you are talking about carrying firearms in public, they do have training classes as a requirement. So which one were you discussing? Carrying? Or owning?

With all the restrictions on driving, just about everyone gets to drive, the 'rights' thing doesn't seem to be much of an issue.

And yet driving isn't a right. Maybe try googling it.

I was discussing both. I don't own a gun, surprise, so I have two concerns about them. One is people carrying them around in public. If adequate training is required, great news. The other part is who can own a gun. I think criminals, juveniles, and the mentally incompetent should not have the right to own a gun.

Well... concealed carry requires a training class.

As for your concerns regarding the background of prospective firearm owners aren't there already laws regulating that?

Is that true in all 50 states?
No idea. It's true in my state. Usually when reciprocity is in play - like it is for LTC - there is uniformity in regulations across states.

Is the burden on the buyer only? How does the seller know if the buyer is legally entitled to own that gun. Private sales and gun shows for instance?
The burden is always on the individual breaking the law. So it all depends on how the law is written.

Sorry, but most of the world is disarmed and no evil government has taken over

Our guns do not keep us safe, 40,000 a year die because of them
40,000 die because someone pulled a trigger. Most are suicides.

We need a study showing which and how many should have been preventable. I did such a study once and found that almost none were preventable.

So even if driving isn't a right everyone get to do it. Seems similar to using a gun. So what is the fuss?
There's no if. Driving isn't a right. How exactly is it similar to using a gun? The fuss seems to be on your end, not mine, so what is the fuss?

You need a license to use a car and that car has to be registered.
Cars do not HAVE to be registered. Registration occurs every year. I have two vehicles being stored that have no registration. They were registered in the past but not now. I don't need a license to buy a car and I don't need a license to register a car. I just need proof of insurance.

All gun deaths are preventable

Driving is a privilege granted even to repeat drunk drivers. :2up:

Unfortunately that is the sort of thinking that allows school shootings to occur.

Both are dangerous and shouldn't be used by criminals, juveniles, and incompetent.

Irrelevant. That car was registered when it was bought and was driven from the dealer by a licensed driver.
