Who says each state has to have its own currency? The European Union issued a single currency for several different countries, and it seems to work well for them. Also, the idea that each state is its own government is not exactly where I was going: more like each region of the country as a separate government.

If I no longer want to be a citizen, I can move to another country. That's not illegal. Why would it be illegal for me to declare that I am a citizen of Arkansas and not the United States if, for instance, Arkansas were to secede?

We, as a society, would function better under several smaller governments than a single government.
