I get so pissed off at the grocery store when I see stupid parents buying shit like this for their young child.
Difficult not to say anything, it really is.

Why are you pissed off at the grocery store? Are they the food police?

Looks like a bowl of dog-turds..LOL!
That being said..it is not for the store, nor for the Govt.--to regulate things like this. It is the parent's responsibility..to teach and to regulate.
Some parents today..like in yesteryear..like things to be easy. Giving in to their children's desires makes it so, at least in the short term. I prefer our current method to the outlawing of certain items..by the State..in an attempt to 'teach' us how to be healthy. Where would it end? Should the State codify parenting..issue a guide-book? A list of rules...put kids in foster homes to save them from sugar? Absurd!

The right to choose..includes the right to choose poorly, otherwise it is meaningless.

....diabetes and obese problems are usually caused by genetics....we never worried about what we ate and my family is very healthy
....parents also do other stupid things--but buying ''sugary'' cereal is not one of the worst things to do for a child
..you get pissed?? when they buy Hershey's Kisses Cereal??
--what about all the kids getting shot? etc?

My mom cooked me breakfast most every morning ... and from scratch ... I'd wake up every morning to the sound of her little flour mill buzzing away ... after my belly was full she'd wave her horse-whip at me and send me out to work in the fields a couple hours before school ... after school I had to haul fifty gallons of water up from the spring, milk the goats, more field work, barn repairs, brush down the draft horse, sharpen tines, squish caterpillars, dig up squirrel dens, irrigate, deadhead, mow, etc etc etc ... and she'd have a nice home cooked dinner sometime after sunset ...

I guess I would have been a healthy child except for all the drugs I was taking ...

Most things are okay to eat in moderation. I ate junk food as a kid (still do), and I am thin and have no diseases. :dunno: I think it becomes a problem when that is all you eat, and the biggest culprit is lack of exercise and not burning off those extra calories.

Well, just saytin, I don't believe I said anything about the store or the government's responsibility to regulate diets.
I said - STUPID PARENTS.

To be fair, you did write that you get so angry at the grocery store in your opening post.

Sorry, but you are wrong.
Childhood diabetes type 1 was extremely rare prior to 1955. It has been on the rise, every decade, ever since.
Type 2 Childhood diabetes - there were no reported cases prior to the 1960's. Even as late as the 1980's it was very rarely diagnosed.
It follows the exact same rise in childhood obesity, once rare, now common.

Perhaps you meant to say, "While at the grocery store, I get so pissed off at the parents . . . "

I see...you meant..while at the store...OK.

At the parents.

So ... what do you feed your children? ...
I fought the good fight..oatmeal in the mornings..limited their soda intake--fruits for desert..etc.. Of course, they hated me for it..and cheated every-time they could..but such is parenting. I note that now that my kids are parents..they mostly follow my rules..thus is irony!

One thing to note...any parent that indulges in the old , 'do as i say, not as I do', when setting dietary examples..or anything else really..is lacking in skills and turning out a kid just like them....hypocritical and prone to cheating..IMO.

Real abuse is not seen or admitted to, because the abusers control the narrative.
When the PLO gave their Palestinian children propaganda books used to hate opponents and demonize them in order to brainwash, trick, & use those children in fighting those rivals and displacing blame to hide the defects of the PLO administration, that was Child abuse. Their inability to function as a normal society was from that abuse.
Their pain and suffering from their choices born out of that propaganda and misinformation.
In the U.S. we have this child abuse through our mainstream entertainment industry & media outlets, like CNN, MSNBC, Hollywood etc they create violence, hate, animosity, stress, anxiety, depression, fear, lust, missguided and deflective behavior, anti social and sometimes sociopathic behavior all from propaganda, misinformation, narrative shaping, tabloid style attention grabbing marketing and other evil inclined and intended techniques of mind control=abuse.
They admit shaping the viewers minds then complain about "what's wrong with them?". A good lawyer could have them up on charges of Child abuse, and challenge the FCC for allowing such child abuse to permeate our main stream broadcasting.

Kind of like raising a child in a Christian Identity household, right? Playing Rush in the car while your 4 year old is in the back seat would qualify on your list, right? Watching Fox while the children are in the room? Raising your kids to believe that they are God's chosen people? Would that qualify? Plenty of narrative shaping going on..all around and on all sides.

That being said...limiting violent video games...movies...and internet usage---is pretty much mandatory these days...and I'm very glad i don't have to deal with it. My kids would have had no internet enabled cell phones until about 14..and frequent lectures about spin and what it is..and the battle for their hearts and minds.
Your post, despite its obvious slant..has a lot of truth in it...it just cuts both ways. Teaching your children to think for themselves is hard work....and requires active parental involvement in their studies. For me, the goal was not to raise children to think like me and agree with my stands..but to think for themselves--and come to their own conclusions.

Time consuming ... and I respect that ... I was on-again off-again ... my big thing was limiting their sugar intake ... but I did use processed foods more than ideal, far and away more Mexican food than is even close to reasonable ... peanut butter tacos are sub-optimal IMEIO ... however, I did talk to my sons about these matters and grew a garden every year ...

DIL's are all health food freaks ...
