It is about relatively small French city centers declining because people are shopping in big malls instead of little shops in the city center. That's all it's about. It's about people moving from smallish towns to big urban areas because of lack of jobs. The SAME EXACT thing that has been happening in the US for many, many decades. It is not about France falling apart, it is about the change from not so modern life to modern life.

Yep. I love France. I've spent a lot of time there in the past few years. I've spent my winter vacations in Paris, 2-3 weeks, several times. I've spent months in the South of France, Provence, etc. I've been here and there and around the country. It is a wonderful country. You will really enjoy it. Bon voyage!
