Unless you support the Iranian regime, you should be in favor of this proposal. The UAE is fast‑tracking a pipeline that would run from the Persian Gulf, over the mountains, to the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. This would allow a large share of Persian Gulf oil to bypass the Strait of Hormuz entirely.
It’s a good idea. Every country in the world that relies on Persian Gulf oil should support this project in some way. If the work can be accelerated, even better — finishing it sooner would reduce Iran’s ability to hold the global economy hostage, which can only be a good thing.
It’s unfortunate that the people of Iran are caught in the middle, but the regime’s leadership has repeatedly shown that it is willing to use threats against global shipping to advance its goals. Weakening that leverage is in the world’s interest.
