I only wish I had the genius and ability to put it so eloquently and succinctly. I am not posting this to promoteLevin's solution, although it is a good one. The first ten minutes of this speech are the definition of conservatism, the stuff I have been trying to formulate for a year and a half without much luck. Levin's speech is the essence of what it means to be an American, and a litany of how that essence is being destroyed today.

Conservatism to the extent that it means anything is resistance to the correlation equals causation fallacy. Normally correlation equals coincidental effects.

Take the Great depression. If you've watched any of the series that have have been shown about the Dust Bowl over the past 20 years and you are good at back of the envelop calculation you can explain all of the great depression's economic effects without any reference to anything economic except how many GDPs of write downs were due to bad weather.

So the thirties swing to socialism was a complete and total failure until the rains of 1940 bailed them out, not WWII. That last part of the mis-explanation is the result of purported conservatives also believing correlation is causation. There is no conservative movement. in the US. And unless you think being reactionary is progressive there is no progressive movement in the US. Stuck on stupid with the world's problems solved by 1880 progressives is really stuck on stupid as Gruber pointed out in regards to D voters.

Levin is the right's best fear monger. Rush and Hannity lure you in by terrifying you about the gay agenda, ebola, Benghazi... and then Levin swoops in for the kill with a stream of consciousness rant about statists, the founders, the constitution, and of course, blessed be his name, Ronald Reagan.

And at that point the average rube's brain shuts off as they get more and more outraged as the minutes tick by on the Levin show, as he plays them like a fiddle about whatever topic was a big deal on drudgereport that day.

And then before you know it... you're convinced Obama was born and raised in Kenya by the muslim brotherhood, MSLSD is the most popular media source on the planet, Harry Reid is hiding in your closet, and Lois Lerner is going to get arrested any day now...

That's right I SAID IT!!!
