Have to give it too you. Not many would fall for this. Any normal two year old would not be in a deportation hearing by themselves, the mother or father or both would be there. A two year old would have no idea what a deportation hearing was or how it would affect them.

But of course some are just too gullible not to fall for this.

The way things go with some of these law dodgers, it's entirely possible that her parents shipped the kid up here to relatives or friends.

Most likely, though, one or both parents was also there, and the lawyer "forgot" to mention that part.
