Postal services in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Italy said they would halt shipping most packages to the United States on Saturday. France and Austria said they will stop on Monday.

The United Kingdom’s Royal Mail said it would stop shipments on Tuesday, allowing time for those packages to arrive before duties begin.

Now, items being shipped from the U.K. worth more than $100 — including gifts and packages being sent to friends and family — will incur a 10 percent duty, the Royal Mail said.

So, if i read it correctly, this wont affect people shipping private packages to each other. It will only affect commercial shipments where companies try and evade tariffs by shipping small packages.

But the EO is confusing, it talks about stopping companies from skirting tariffs, but then it also talks about the flow of drugs into the country. I guess i don't see how one relates to the other, other than the fact that packages that fell under the de minimus exemption were not inspected as thoroughly?
