You better hope that is not all you Republicans have to hang your hat on.....
there are 90 million seniors and younger adults with higher risk medical conditions that are susceptible to dying from the virus.... unless you kill them all off by this November's election, I think you will have a harder time than you think, winning any new seats in this upcoming election.
Won't all states, have already begun their reopenings by June first?
It's a lie that Democrats do not want to reopen. We just are cautious and are not as hell bent on killing as many people as we can, while doing it, as the Republicans are.....
talk that crap to cuomo commie ! once again the left has politicized something that shouldnt have been politicized and its backfiring !once again ! the definition of inanity is leftwing politics.
I realize you all see it that way.... and who wouldn't, that's involved in the political arena daily, like we are.......?
You are going to blame my side for doing such for political purpose, and if circumstances were reversed, my side would be blaming your side, of doing such! No doubt!!!
But I think it goes deeper than that.... people know, many more people than the "deniers" imo, that this isn't a hoax..... it really really really isn't!
And we could make it through this, with less economic long term harm, and less in death counts from COVID, if we would just simply work together on it.... like with most other catastrophes we have gone through together in America....
If done right, testing specific regions, or venues, or nursing homes, or prisons, or roduction lines, along with random testing, and contact tracing..... we have chance, to have the best of both worlds.... less covid deaths and a stronger, more confident, economic return.
Right now, there are 90 million adult seniors and younger, that are at high risk..... to keep all of them isolated and quarantined, to protect them, will absolutely KILL our economy and we will never come back to the levels we were at..... without these big spender adults out there cruising, and flying and traveling to visit the kids and all the spending they actually do.
I believe we are all safer of not catching and passing it on to one of our loved ones susceptible to having a hard time with this virus if we can take steps to contain it, manage it at a slower spread rate, which results in a slower death rate.....
It buys time!
It buys time for treatments to be developed and tested, and buys time for several vaccines to be created and manufactured. and buys time for getting the public vaccinated.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY
If we test in various hotspots and randomly, then we will not be moving forward blind...blind in the sense that we could move supplies from one region or state to another, depending on where the virus is spreading at a faster rate..... and doctors and nurses and hospitals with an abundance of covid patients, would always have adequate protection supplies etc. I just think and feel dee inside, that it is the right thing to do.... watch out for and take care of all of our first responders at risk through constant exposure!!! God Bless them all and rest in peace for those who have already died from it. I think it is callous to not consider the stress they have been put under....
And we would be able to have those testing positive, isolate, and those they were in direct and prolonged contact with or better yet, testing positive, isolated as well.....etc. the fewer they pass it on to, the fewer people that will pass it on to others.....
This is called CONTAINMENT of the Virus..... the isolation of ONLY those that are infected or with fewer tests available to use, then it would be other contacts that are likely to have been infected.
Instead, because we did not initially have enough tests to do this early on, we moved directly in to what is called the MITIGATION of the Virus.....
This was the issuance by the CDC that there should be 6 ft of separation, and no gatherings of people in groups larger than 10....and washing hands, and sanitizer use, and eventually, the wearing of masks....
The CDC making THOSE GUIDELINES, is when governors, including mine, all deciding to shut down, in most cases......because businesses were larger than just 10 people, or department stores had more than just 10 customers and how to keep them 6 feet apart was unknown to them at the time etc etc etc... only a handful of state governors, were ahead of the game, if that.....
Again, the CDC guidance caused us to go in to this Mitigation stage, that shut down the States and economy on a turtle's pace.
Okay, my long winded response's summary....
We would be better off containing / isolating, the sick...
instead of all of us healthy AND all the ones at high risk of catching it and dying.... remember, the high risk seniors etc, are 90 million people! That is just too damn many people to keep out of the workplace and from moving around and about, spending money in our economy! We need them!
We need and have to make their presence in our economy, as safe as we can, so they can feel safe and contribute, along with the rest of us....
and just keep the infected, in isolation, until they are cured, instead of getting to this point of locking us all up due to massive spread.
that is the both of best worlds.....
