It is amazing the information one can find and learn on the Internet. Searching for a horses ass photo something like Allie's I found this site. Pervs looking for children hit this crime site. I hope someone besides this blogger is taking notes.

Back before I turned 18 in January, within a year, my home got mailed THIRTEEN pictures of LEVEL 3 Sex Offenders (those most likely to repeat) who live within either a 1 or 3 mile radius. They don't even send you the Level 2s and 1s.

This is an average sized town mind you. But THIRTEEN just moving in within that much of a radius (level 3s remember) isn't a small thing by any means.

You and LILO gave me another idea... One can check to see how many searches on certain key words or phrases were performed on all of the search engines. I am sure some of those searches are for research but I'd bet a lot of them are actual pervs looking for children, etc.... If I can remember how to get to the site to do the search on how many I'll post the info.

Well that's the problem that games the numbers. How many % is research and how much % is people actually looking for these things?

I'll give you a great example. Mein Kampf by Hitler probably gets millions of google searches a year by people but how much of that % is research and how much of that % is nazis/nazi sympathizers wanting to find the book to read.

I mean, given the opportunity, I'd want to read a translated version of Mein Kampf because if we are going to prevent our mistakes in the future then we must know how we reached them in the first place in the past. For example, Germany was ripe for Hitler after WWI when they were in severe economic decline, and all these countries were barging on the door looking for payments from a country not even beginning to rebuild. This later turned into a environment of anger that Hitler used to his advantage.

Brings up a real good point, and this isn't to negate what you're saying. Being involved in debate, on any number of topics, if any investigator were to seize my computer and do an analysis of the searches that have been done, there's no doubt in my mind that I'd be arrested on suspicion of any number of crimes!

Notice only 24 not guilty in this list. Did not do the math to see the percentages but I'd venture a bet there are many that never get caught.

Poor Mr. Kelly, surely has the sympathy of a few posters here for being prosecuted for those thought crimes.

Timothy S. Kelly, 38, swim coach at North Attleboro High School in North Attleboro, Massachusetts has reportedly been arrested on child pornography charges.

It is alleged that Kelly had downloaded images of children engaged in sexual activity from the internet.

Kelly came to the attention of North Attleboro Police by way of an alerts from federal investigators who arrested a child pornography suspect in Mississippi. Investigators identified Kelly as someone who had allegedly been in contact with that suspect.

On Monday, police siezed Kelly’s home computer and related computer hardware for their investigation and it is alleged that Kelly admitted to downloading over 200 images of children in sexual acts from the Internet and keeping a collection of child pornography on portable computer drives and DVDs which police allegedly found throughout his apartment.

Kelly appeared for arraignment this afternoon in Taunton District Court and was freed on $75,000 cash bail. As a condition of bail, Kelly has been ordered to stay away from children under the age of 18.

Kelly is due back in court on July 14th.

Case in point: In addition to one of my own kids, I know of one other personally who was contacted by one of these assholes. Now, if that's the case, how many others that you're acquainted with do you suppose could say the same? And how many of their acquaintances?

You see where I'm going with this? That "far less common than they make it look" statement up there.

The big problem isn't their existence, they have been around since time began, and are actually a smaller percentage of the population now than ever before thanks to law enforcement getting better techniques. The problem is that parents are not teaching their kids right, making it possible for such pervs to do more than contact them. Over protecting the children only makes it easier for the pervs to convince them that they should be trusted instead of their parents. First, the most common way for them to earn their trust is to prey on the child not knowing what is wrong, as well as saying things like "I would let you do that ..." when the child mentions a restriction placed by the parents. Children have a natural and unresistable curiosity and desire to explore their world, by keeping them from indulging in this important learning drive they will seek ways "out" of their cages, which is an opening to the pervs. Also when they don't trust telling the parents everything, that is another trait the pervs can use as a way in, because then they can do almost anything knowing that the child will not report it to their parents. Paranoia is only good in small amounts, otherwise it does permanent damage.

All the more reason to not put your trust into just a human being even if they are a priest or a preacher at the local church, a teacher or a police officer. People can look perfectly respectable and still be child molesters.

It took a generation of abuse children to step forward and tell about their own horrific stories before people would even talk about molestation of children. Unless it has happened to someone they really have no clue what it is like for the child that is molested. Even then different people handle it differently as everyone has a little different family structure. It is not an issue most people want to look at, talk about or hear about until some child is found dead or missing. Then it is oh' my we should have done something more or why wasn't DHS their for that child?

Even now pervs still hang out at Malls because children go to Malls. The Internet has become a haven for pervs as so many children get online before mom and dad get home from work. Single mother's with children are major targets for pervs.

Anywhere children frequent is the place where pervs are going to congregate.
