The US still buys 700,000 barrels of fossil fuel per day from PUTIN….WHY?

Are these the only locations that have the capability to produce oil in the United States?
There are lots of places where oil is produced by fracking, but Biden has been trying to regulate fracking off the planet.

Has he regulated fracking off the planet at this time?

oh for god's sakes. We've already been through this bs. The Saudis alone have cut production twice what the US 'net export" was. That's echoed by the rest of the OPEC countries. NO ONE IS BUYING RUSSIAN FUTURES which were over 5MILLION barrels a day. It's not biden. US producers cut when the pandemic hit. They are producing more than last year, but have no plans to return to past levels even if Biden was not potus. Too many went bankrupt

And even I don't like Biden and would never have tried a lease ban (which was tossed btw) and would have approved the XL pipeline, which would barely have made up what US producers cut, and not made a difference in overall production cuts by other countries.2020/2021
You forgot to mention the weather effects on 2020/2021 oil production as one more excuse for Biden's war on energy, and high oil prices.
My simple point is this, if Trump was president instead of Biden we would still have an oil surplus and would not be headed for $200/bbl oil. We wouldn't be having Putin's war in Ukraine either, but that's a different topic.
While I generally agree with your post, you keep ignoring the FACT that US oil production is being kept artificially low by Biden's War on Oil.
Tell me why oil producers are balking at more production at $200/bbl???????????????
IMHO its that they don't trust Biden and his green hoards and they can't waste capital with the Fed raising interest rates and the stock market getting tight.
Bottom line: Biden's war on energy contributes to the $200/bbl price of oil since oil companies can't trust his "green" policies. When a GOP president comes in, maybe that will shake loose more US oil.

The recent peak production was a mountain that took over 10 years to climb. Since the setback in 2020 production has recovered about 60% of the lost production. It will just take time to get there again. But even when we do get there, there is no guarantee that our increased production will result is lower oil prices. It didn't last time.
That mountain was at least part developing the fields. Many of those areas are developed but not being utilized for various reasons, regulatory action being one of them. Take those hurdle away and production ramps up relatively quickly. Also why continue to subject ourselves to the whims of crazy ass dictators and terrorists? If we are producing our own oil, do we spend near the amount of blood and treasure in the ME? Does anyone? And as a side benefit you can tax that production a little less than the cost it to ship it from Russia, SA, Mexico, Canada, etc and use that money to develop alternative fuel solutions. Win, win, win.

I spent the better part of my adult life fighting 2 wars in the ME I'd prefer it if we did things, so my children and grandchildren aren't forced to do the same. Not producing our oil domestically and securing sources that dont involve shithole countries isnt one of those things.

There's a lot more to the US oil industry than who is in the White House.

Crazy, I know.

Irrelevant. You asked how Biden is affecting (negatively?) domestic production. There it is.

Every available lease in The United States needs to be opened for drilling, right now.
You can only climb the mountain one step at a time.

Perhaps, but everything that stops it from expanding production is in the Whitehouse.

That's false. Oil production relies on labor and equipment which are not as readily available as they were a few years ago. Furthermore oil producers are wary of a price crash which bankrupted a lot of people a few years ago.

There are market factors at play.

You don't need to listen to the political hacks trying to make you believe it's all politics.

So you're just talking out your ass then. Gotcha.
No, turd. I know there are new regulations against fracking, I just don't know whether they have entirely shut it down.

The main factor at play is quid-pro-quo Biden. The things you mention are not preventing production from increasing.

Bullshit. You just said you're not sure, you just heard.

You're talking out your ass.
