The TSA showdown reveals a brutal truth about our politics

So in your world money is more important than morals? Interesting.

Why don’t we cut spending and raise taxes on everyone, so we don’t run up debt?
What’s moral about passing off crippling debt to future generations which will constrain their entire lives?

If boomers hadn’t left us in such a terrible financial situation, id be more amenable to their claims of morality.

Again if you were serious you would not support huge spending bills, be for cutting spending everywhere, raising taxes on all Americans and demand to hold your representatives accountable and quit making excuses and take responsibility for the debt.

Um, yeah, this kid was REALLY dangerous, you guys.

ICE routinely raids houses without arrest or search warrants.
LOL Even you cannot be that desperate to be flogging that lie
Nope.

Homeland Security strongly denied that it has removed any training requirements or lessened requirements for officers. ICE recruits receive 56 days of training and 28 days on average of on-the-job training, the department said Monday in response to an inquiry about the allegations made during the forum.
Guess you are.

I'm very much for raising taxes. As for spending, I'm very pro spending in times of need, and pro paying down debt when things are going well.

I'm definitely against doing things that will knee cap the economy, like deporting millions of people working very helpful jobs.

Because they aren’t costing us, they’re contributing.

Who do you think pays for those government benefits you enjoy so much?

People with jobs.

When you deport many millions of working people, there’s fewer people to pay your benefits.

But no worries, you can always run up more debt and pass that on to future generations! That’s your solution to everything.
I just told you they ARE costing us! $150 billion a year!

And deporting “working” illegals? They are suppressing wages for working AMERICANS.

YOUR solution seems to be ruining the country.

Kicking out families who are here illegally and costing us $150 billion net a year is an economic no-brainer.

You’re advocating for the weakening of our country.
Except they don't cost us money, the amount of revenue they produce in goods and services outweighs that.

Let's talk about the 150 Billion that does get spent. You mean the stuff that goes to landlords and teachers and other Americans? Perish the thought

Americans don't want those jobs.

When you are out picking vegetables for 10 hours a day in the hot sun, you can get back to me.

You keep repeating that number as though it comes from a reliable source.

It doesn't.

You just keep repeating it because it's foundational to your entire premise and you won't ever allow any critical thinking to instill any doubt.

Your policies will strangle the US economy. You've saddled this nation with an immense amount of debt, massive entitlements to shoulder, (not to mention costly wars without an end in sight), and at the same time you're wanting to limit the labor force and slow economic growth?

You guys remind me of the Brexit supporters who shot their own economy in the foot.

Just the facts. The father ran, the kid was left behind
Bullshit.

A federal judge in Texas has temporarily blocked the removal of a 5-year-old and his father who were detained last week as part of the federal government's ongoing immigration crackdown in Minnesota.

Five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was apprehended by immigration officials shortly after arriving home from preschool while his father was in their driveway, school officials said last week.

In the order issued Monday, U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said that Liam and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, cannot be removed from the district in Texas pending the habeas case challenging their detention.

This is what slavery looks like in 2026. “I ain’t gonna pick vegetables in the hot sun for 10 hours, but these people will”.

Is that really an honest characterization? D's have offered to fund DHS agencies including TSA, but not ICE. ICE received billions from the BBB and has no lack of funding. Dotard is refusing to accept the compromise because he will not negotiate with respect to the tactics ICE uses. Ones that came in to full view in MN resulting in a public backlash and revealing an obvious need for reforms.

So why did Schutdown Schumer hold America hostage?

He got nothing.

The TSA showdown reveals a brutal truth about our politics

I was unable to get past the paywall, and your sampling of the article does not reveal the brutal truth about our politics.

The brutal truth about American politics is that the constitutional system is not perfect, and that has caused the generation of flawed political factions that are forced to compete in the still imperfect system.

It is obvious that the game theory of the system is to populate the three branches with politically aligned people, and that subverts the expected checks and balances. The checks and balances are in error because the system is not perfect. We need a system closer to perfect to meet our modern expectations.

Yup. Upthread he said “illegal immigrants are PROBABLY good for the economy.” Nothing to back that up.

In the meantime, they’re flooding our schools and lowering the quality of education, MOST families headed by an illegal are on welfare, they drive up the cost of modest rental apartments, and they lower the wages of working class Americans.

It’s all about the votes. The plan was always to flood the country with uneducated, semi-literate foreigners who can’t support their families, get them onto welfare, and grant blanket amnesty so they can vote.

Dems even ADMITTED they care more about illegals than Americans!

Really?

Are we bringing them over in chains?
Are we preventing them from leaving?
Are we not paying them?
They came here for a better life, not to pick your vegetables in the heat for 10 hours for low pay. You clearly would not do it and by your statement you’re implying no one else would do it. So let’s pay these people low wages to slave away in the heat for 10 hours to do the wortk no one else will do. Yea, that’s slavery on 2026.
