The definition of a lawful command depends a lot on the circumstances. ICE cannot force you to give them your ID or answer any questions unless they have reasonable suspicion. Refusing to comply with mere requests does not constitute reasonable suspicion. Telling ICE to **** of when they make requests does not constitute reasonable suspicion. It definitely doesn’t constitute obstruction.

None of this really seems to matter to anyone on your side and you’ll spend a lot of time and effort trying to skirt the issues.

ICE can detain if you don't verify citizenship until they verify and if you're illegal then arrest or release you.

Here are some lawful commands that ICE can give you that failure to obey will get you snatched up for verification:

• Back up
• Stop the car
• Get out of the car

Second, ICE can’t order you to do anything without a reason.

They can tell you to back up if you’re close enough to interfere with a law enforcement activity. They can’t tell you to get out of the car unless they have the legal right to detain you.

They can’t tell you to stop recording either. Recording interactions is a first amendment right.

But we’ve seen ICE agents assault people who are recording them, in order to take their phones. Not that you care.
