Can you imagine the school of 100 years from now when they have totally rewritten and sanitized American history? We've produced these delicate snowflakes who are now too traumatized IN A SCHOOL to actually see and learn real history---- ---- why should we expose them to that terrible fact that back in the 18th century, part of our history then involved slaves and Indians dead and alive?

A recent conversation with a fellow student of life and Army Veteran who also happens to be a renowned professor of philosophy reaffirmed my own conclusion regarding the new postmodernist American Left. That no intrinsic or redemptive value for humanity; no social, spiritual, cultural, academic or metaphysical good or benefit or positive outcome can come from engaging in dialogue, dialectic or conversation of any kind with them . . . the postmodernists, who coincidentally are also the latest iteration of true-believer communists. One cannot effectively communicate with the thing who is actively engaged in destroying you. We conservative Americans have been going about this culture war thing the wrong way. We're still playing by an ancient set of rules while the new Democrat Postmodernists operate toward our destruction bound by no rules whatsoever because they've re-written them all. Communism means collaborative ownership of the means of production, and that require collaborative planning and profit sharing. Was anything collaborative in the USSR?

However, as an ex-San Franciscan (Go Niners!) and mainstream center left democrat, I can say the left doesn't do themselves any favors with much of their censorship efforts. Especially perhaps millennials. I follow Bill Maher on this POV.
That said, there are cases where tearing down stuff makes sense.
Such as civil war monuments which were not put up historically during the civil war but by KKK types much later to glorify white nationalism. That's not history, that's white nationalist propaganda.
