The time has come to walk away from the Republican party
Walked away from them after the sold me out, yet again, in '95.
Maybe if Scott Walker had got the nomination.......

The time has come to walk away from the Republican party
I don't know what happened to you, Oddball. I'm so sorry. We need every conservative vote or we are likely to see four years of unfettered crimes against the Constitution.Walked away from them after the sold me out, yet again, in '95.The time has come to walk away from the Republican party

SO, the Republican party is not far enough to the right for you?
no- it will never be far enough left for you....see how that works?
I am old enough to remember when the Republican party was much more centrist. But centrist is an evil word to today's GOP. It is the far right or banishment for any Republican that doesn't march in lock step.
Ask David Frum or Bruce Bartlett.
David Frum and the Closing of the Conservative Mind
by Bruce Bartlett
As some readers of this blog may know, I was fired by a right wing think tank called the National Center for Policy Analysis in 2005 for writing a book critical of George W. Bush's policies, especially his support for Medicare Part D. In the years since, I have lost a great many friends and been shunned by conservative society in Washington, DC.
Now the same thing has happened to David Frum, who has been fired by the American Enterprise Institute. I don't know all the details, but I presume that his Waterloo post on Sunday condemning Republicans for failing to work with Democrats on healthcare reform was the final straw.
Since, he is no longer affiliated with AEI, I feel free to say publicly something he told me in private a few months ago. He asked if I had noticed any comments by AEI "scholars" on the subject of health care reform. I said no and he said that was because they had been ordered not to speak to the media because they agreed with too much of what Obama was trying to do.
It saddened me to hear this. I have always hoped that my experience was unique. But now I see that I was just the first to suffer from a closing of the conservative mind. Rigid conformity is being enforced, no dissent is allowed, and the conservative brain will slowly shrivel into dementia if it hasn't already.
Sadly, there is no place for David and me to go. The donor community is only interested in financing organizations that parrot the party line, such as the one recently established by McCain economic adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin.
I will have more to say on this topic later. But I wanted to say that this is a black day for what passes for a conservative movement, scholarship, and the once-respected AEI.
This time it doesn't matter.
Elect Obama and get more of the same.
Elect Romney and you get Obama in pancake makeup.
Why isn't Rubio running for VP? Because if Romney loses he (Rubio) get labelled "loser".
Because if Romney wins and fails as miserably as his acolyte, Obama (who picked up on Romney's health care communization in Massachusetts so brilliantly) then he (Rubio) gets labelled loser and, worse, Obama runs again in 2016.
Better for someone else to take the fall.

at this juncture, learning something about american politics might be a good thing for you.
1. the president can't run again in 2016. presidents can only hold two terms.
that's first thing...
2. second... there is nothing 'communist' about making sure people have health insurance and pay their fair share.
That's why the heritage foundation came up with the plan as an alternative to hillary clinton's health care plan.
but you don't know that, do you?

That's all we had under W. He and the GOP thugs created the patriot act, the most anti-constitution and huge government bill every enacted.
Not to mention every time it has come up for an extension, the GOP voted almost unanimously to continue it, where the democrats vote strongly against.
It's pretty clear to see a vote for the GOP is a vote to use the constitution as toilet paper.

What happened to me is that people who campaign like librarians and govern like the progressive/socialist democratics they claim to oppose make me want to puke.I don't know what happened to you, Oddball. The world has seen "I told you so" wealth-spreaders bring societies larger than ours to ruin along with millions of people slaughtered for political opposition to having their property removed from their possession.

Communist? No, but european socialist, yes.
That's why the heritage foundation came up with the plan as an alternative to hillary clinton's health care plan.

I can see you're confused, because that's not quite the case, unless you only have a surface knowledge of the issue.
For starters they spoke to a catastrophic coverage plan, NOT a comprehensive plan.
there was no penalty meted out, but a loss of a tax break, it wasn't a legal requirement, last but not least, a Voucher was offered as inducement for those that did.
Stuart butler, you can google him.
Oh and Obama was demonstrably anti mandate in the 08 primaries. Right?
I ain't particularly fond of the decision to nominate Romney...but if Romney isn't elected Obamacare is implemented and we'll never be rid of it.
Romney will repeal Obamacare and replace it with less intrusive legislation that retains the 10 points that Americans like about the 2000 page monstrosity that is the Orwellian named "Affordable Care Act".
Don't vote, vote third party, write in a candidate, or vote for Obama and you will be partially to blame for a failure to repeal this overreaching, budget-breaking new entitlement program.

Where does this faith of repeal come from?
Second if a candidate fails to gain enough support it is not the fault of those that didnt vote for him.
Already setting up an excuse....

My faith is not in Romney, it is in a Republican controlled congress after the election.
If it is important to you to stop Obamacare...Romney it the ONLY option.
Ron Paul is not going to be president.
Gary Johnson is not going to be president.
It's Romney or Obama...and Obama will veto any attempt at repeal.
So, like I said, if repealing Obamacare is your goal, vote for Romney.
If you vote third party, write in a candidate or don't vote and Romney loses, you share part of the blame for the implementation of the "Affordable Care Entitlement Program".

Obamacare is Romneycare. Romney isn't going to repeal anything. Why would he shoot down the legislation he was the father of creating?
His "I'm going to repeal!" BS is just to rally the goons to vote for him.

He knows if he doesn't, he'll be the second one term president in a row undone by Obamacare.
(re: OP) As a progressive Republican, I don't know if I'm more shocked at the rightward march of the corporate Republican party or the rightward march of the corporate Democratic party. Obama is to the right of Nixon on some issues and he is touted as a leftist socialist? (Nixon instituted the EPA!). Seriously?!, I think Obama is terrible CIC or national CEO, but good lordy, he's no Mephistopheles.
