President Trump still had in place the infrastructure to rain down unholy hell on the Taliban, and they knew that. They're more than likely as tired of being killed as we are.

Biden started dismantling that from day one. There is currently no country in the surrounding area of Afghanistan, which will allow us to base our attacks from. And there sure as hell isn't a functioning US military base in Afghanistan proper.

Even President Trump knew that no matter what, the Taliban was eventually going to overtake the entire country. All he wanted was to get us out of that quagmire without losing more lives, or throwing away more money. And if arranging for the release of war prisoners was an act of good faith and would help us get the hell out of there, I have no problem with that.

In every war, prisoners on both sides are set free. And whatever happens in that shithole called "Afghanistan" after we leave with dignity, is their problem, not ours.

Did you really think the Afghan government was going to stand on its own, and those prisoners would remain incarcerated? The Taliban would have released them by now anyway, except we don't have the infrastructure in place to deal with them.

He did order it. The Afghan government had nada to do with it. Read the agreement. It specifically says the United States will release 5000 prisoners. Doesnt say anything about the Afghan government.
