Can anyone show me the 'star of Bethlehem' in the Bible? I read both Matthew's and Luke's account of Christ's birth and couldn't find any reference to it.

The star led them to Jerusalem, not Bethlehem.
I wasn't there, I only quote what is in the good book.

It makes plain the star is in the east, guiding those from the west.

I'm not sure the star lead them to either city, just the general area.

It is called the 'Star of Bethlehem' because it was where Jesus was born, and it was where the star was leading the wise men. (Matt. 2:1-6)

Though Jesus was born in Bethlehem in a manger, (Luke 2:7), as there was no room in the inn, the wise men apparently were not there giving gifts at that time. For, we are told in (Matt. 2:10-11) "When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house they saw the young child..." They are now in a house and Jesus is a 'young child'

But, it is still in Bethlehem. (Matt. 2:8) And the star led them to the exact place where Jesus, now a young child, was. (Matt. 2:9). Thus it is called the 'star of Bethlehem.

Interesting how the star is described in (Matt. 2:9) "....the star...went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

It could not have been a star or a comet since, as the earth rotates, it would first appear in east and eventually disappear in the west.
Astronomers have stated that research shows it was a comet.

The 'star' stood over the house in Nazareth. Joseph, Mary, and Jesus were gone from Bethlehem and from Jerusalem before the wise men arrived in the region. That's why Herod order the death of children up to two years old that were born in the area of Bethlehem.

Sadly for them most or all of the children who were killed were Benjamite, not Jewish children.

It was a special thing created by God.

I don't think so. (Matt. 2:6) says the wise men were told to look in Bethlehem. In (Matt. 2:8) the wise men are sent to Bethlehem by Herod. And they found him in a house.

I know the wise men didn't find him at his birth. But all I see here is that they were still in Bethlehem. As after the wise men left, then God warned Joseph in a dream to leave Bethlehem and go to Egypt. (Matt. 2:15)

The Magi didn't go to Bethlehem but followed the star to Nazareth where they found the "young child", who was no longer a "babe". Different Greek words are used for young child and babe in the two accounts (Matthew and Luke). Jesus would still have been a "babe" or newborn when Joseph and Mary returned to Nazareth. At the time of the Magi's visit Jesus was a "young child", a toddler. It was after this visit that the angel warned them to flee to Egypt.

Sounds like an opinion. Show some Scripture.

I have. I don't see it.

I showed you in Scripture where you are wrong. Show me the Scriputre where you are right.

That's ok. I won't try to change your mind.

Its a comet it never stopped it was used to create the Jesus myth
Comets don't stop in midair, so we know it's not a comet.
What I find strange is that Kings had astronomers. Yet, they didn't report an anomaly to Herod. Could there have been a star, that because of the curvature of the earth, could be seen in the east and was then followed to the west?
