....That's why they fight so hard to keep the confederate flag flying in the state capitals. The GOP has been getting the votes of the bigots for decades. All right wing groups vote republican. So for Paul Ryan to disavow bigotry in the republican party, is just a big lie. Without the bigot vote, the GOP loses every time. Everybody knows the bigots didn't vote for Obama. And everybody knows the bigots love seeing Obama smeared by the GOP for the last seven years.
But Paul Ryan's declaration has given all of the bigot vote to Trump. And Trump loves having those votes....it's the vast majority of republican voters.
But this may be an epiphany to republicans that aren't bigots. There are many already, even in congress, that are threatening to leave the GOP if Trump gets the nomination,...which looks more than probable.
And even a lot of pentagon generals are threatening to resign if Trump becomes POTUS.

The implosion of the GOP could be the greatest thing to ever happen in America.

I almost fell sorry for the dumbfucks who are so devoid of any real substance that the have to resort to this empty headed rhetoric to feel involved in the conversation.

While the leadership of the party is trying to promote demographically significant candidates, they are still rife with homophobic, transphobic and religious bigotry.

Denial is not a river in Egypt. Even if there was a cure for stupid, you wouldn't take it.

and the North are mostly descended from Yankees.

Did you also know water is wet?

Dumbfuck! Dumfuck!

Oh, I'm sorry, was I actually supposed to say something? One forgets so easily in this absurd morass of Tourettes sufferers.

A bad question, badly asked. Intended to do nothing but invite frenzied replies from the guppies who swim here who think they're sharks. Not that it matters. Ask essentially the same question in a more thoughtful, polite manner and the responses will be the same thoughtless garbage.

The one constant on this board is that in the politics section, politics are never discussed. Just hate spewed by cowards who would never speak like this in public for fear of getting their asses kicked.

Go ahead, rate this funny, cowards. The death of political discourse is the death of democracy, but that means little to fascists in American clothing.

What does this have to do with our wayward former slaves?

You do realize that the confederate battle flag is a decedent from the democrat party? This is just another BS wedge issue created by the party that actually flew the flag into battle. How ironic is that?

South Carolina being the recent and longest lasting battle over the flag, it is fitting that a democrat first hoisted the flag and now a Republican lowers it.

The Democrats Created and Own the Confederate Flag, by Deroy Murdock, National Review

Haley, a rising Republican star, is correct to lower the Confederate flag. It has reflected Democratic racial oppression since it was stitched together in 1861, and has been hoisted by Democrats ever since. Just as Republicans — led by President Abraham Lincoln — valiantly crushed the Democrat-run Confederacy, Republicans proudly should banish the Stars and Bars to private property and history museums. They also should remind Americans that Democrats waved this frightful banner until very recently.

Just like policies of segregation are in part responsible for the state of many intercity African Americans unassimilated culture...policies of post war Reconstruction created a permanent rift between the North and the South.

Past is prologue.

And before you say "Oh, segregation, that was the Souths doing", do some research. For example "Brown vs. Board of Education" was the Board of Education Topeka Kansas, a well known Abolitionist Free State.

Topeka, Kansas was the Capitol founded by the anti-slavery constituency, and where the Free State legislature was elected in 1855.
