YAWN
all I see is a bunch of left-wing nutjobs spewing hate in the name of tolerance. there is no rise in "self-identified liberals", they just come out of the woodwork. the rise of the Tea party and other groups is a direct response to liberal/progressive overreach. it's also the reason Dems lost the House and the Senate
Fair enough. But just because you refuse to see the extreme political polarization among republicans doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Per the DW Nominate scale, generally regarded as the gold standard of political polarization, the most extreme democrat is Barbara Lee from California with a -0.710. The only democrat above. -0.700. With 7 more democrats above -0.600 for a total of 8.
HOUSE SORT11 Rank Ordering
-1.0 is perfectly liberal. 1.0 is perfectly conservative.
Republicans in comparison have
3 in the house above 0.97, almost off the scale. They have 16 above 0.80. 37 above 0.70. And 76 above 0.60.
So above 0.70 (-0.70)
Democrats have 1. Republicans have 37.
Above 0.60 (-0.60)
Democrats have 8. Republicans have 76.
Political polarization is almost ludicrously skewed toward republicans. And you insist its only democrats?
Damn.
