DOGE: Barking Up the Wrong Tree While the House Burns Down

DOGE is not just barking up the wrong tree—it’s gnawing at the Constitution while peddling snake oil to a desperate public.

What’s Wrong With DOGE?

You assign an arrogant billionaire--one with zero training in auditing, no regard for the Constitution, and a flair for hype over substance--to "fix" the government, and what could possibly go wrong?

Everything.

DOGE claimed to have slashed billions from the federal budget. They boasted $8 billion in savings from ICE, but whoops—it was $8 million. Their three $655 million “cuts” at USAID? A mere $18 million total. They even claimed a $232 million savings from the Social Security Administration, which turned out to be just $560,000. And the $1.9 billion "cut" from the Treasury? That contract was canceled during Biden’s term, not theirs.

Their so-called “wall of receipts” shows maybe $9.6 billion in actual savings—a rounding error against a $36 trillion national debt. Yet they still parade around a phantom $65 billion savings figure. It’s the political equivalent of a magician botching every trick but still expecting applause. Incompetence or intentional deception? Either way, it's a masterclass in how not to run a government.

Why DOGE Is Not Just Misguided--It’s Unconstitutional

DOGE bypasses the lawful oversight mechanisms enshrined in our democracy. The Inspectors General (IGs) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO) exist for a reason: they’re staffed by trained professionals with decades of experience in auditing science, legal frameworks, and budget accountability. These institutions were established by Congress—the very branch entrusted with the "power of the purse" under Article I of the Constitution.

Musk’s maneuvering with DOGE is not just reckless; it’s illegal. He is attempting to usurp powers he neither understands nor possesses. His disdain for government process and accountability mirrors Trump’s own approach: bulldoze the institutions, then complain they aren’t functioning.

The Real Goal? Tax Cuts for Billionaires

Let’s not pretend this is about reducing the deficit. Trump’s previous tax cuts for the rich exploded the deficit by trillions. DOGE is merely the latest bait-and-switch:
  1. Cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy.
  2. Manufactured a “crisis” over rising debt.
  3. Gut public services, fire civil servants, and slash social programs.
  4. Repeat.
The idea is not to save money. It's to hollow out the government so that it can no longer serve the public—only the oligarchs. All DOGE achieves is throwing sand in the gears of governance while distracting the public with gimmicky charts and cooked numbers.

The Insanity of Firing Federal Workers

Even if you fired every federal worker--2.4 million people earning an average of $108,510—the savings would still only be 0.72% of the national debt. You’d cripple the government, devastate millions of families, and still barely make a dent in the ledger.

OK, let's say you are right. There is a legitimate agency tasked with this oversight and who's work it is to reduce waste in our government.

Where are they? They are not doing a very good job...we have plenty of waste in the government.

If you tell me there is an agency out there who is supposed to do this, I'm fine with getting rid of doge...if those other agencies will actually do their job.

Whatever else you say about DOGE tackling $7 Trillion in unfettered spending was a massive undertaking and prone to have errors

The most shocking aspect was to learn that at least $4.7 Trillion was send to places and people unknown!! How is that OK with you Soros Flying Monkeys?

When the Progressive Socialist Communist Movies, TV, media and entertainers stop their anti-Republican hate, then we can start to heal. It is clear they are political shills using comedy that may even be paid as foreign agents.

Is this OP original content or cut & pasted?

No matter; it is filled with nonsense. On a macro-level it is an example of the Left's bizarre exercise in "double-think," claiming on the one hand that DOGE isn't actually doing anything significant, while on the other hand, it is demolishing and neutering our Federal government, preventing it from doing all the wonderful things we pay it to do. You cannot have both. It is either making significant cuts or it is not.

For those who care about reality,

Trump's previous tax cuts did not "explode the deficit." They increased Federal income tax revenues significantly. The Democrats in Congress exploded the debt with outrageous spending, largely related to COVID and infrastructure graft.
  • As for legality, the President runs the Executive Branch, and has broad discretion to do it according to his own best judgment and the Constitution...and that includes NOT SPENDING money that Congress has decided to spend, when it is clearly outside Congress' powers (virtually all of discretionary spending today).
  • Exploding debt is not a "manufactured crisis." We are approaching the point when debt service will dramatically impinge on discretionary programs. It is a REAL crisis.
  • "Tax cuts for the rich" is nothing but a Left-wing mantra. When tax rates are reduced, the people who pay all the taxes will benefit the most. It's not complicated.
  • Anyone who has worked a real job in any large organization, inside or outside government, knows that these organizations inevitably become bloated and require shrinking. In the private sector, this occurs when there is a merger or acquisition, when there is a business downturn, when a new CEO is hired, and so on. It NEVER HAPPENS in the Federal government, except when a new President has the balls to do it. Clinton did it, but he didn't constrain those remaining from hiring all their laid-off brethren as "consultants," at twice the price.
So which is it? Is DOGE impotent and not really doing anything, or are they crippling the Federal workforce by firing all those productive employees? You can't have both.

claiming on the one hand that DOGE isn't actually doing anything significant, while on the other hand, it is demolishing and neutering our Federal government, preventing it from doing all the wonderful things we pay it to do. You cannot have both.
WRONG.

They are indeed demolishing the federal government, they just aren't saving any money while they are doing it.

That's because the real purpose isn't to save money.

So the prolific fake news organization, PBS, who just had their funding cut, doesn't like DOGE.

I wonder why? :dunno:

Of course only a moronic fool would believe anything that they say. They have quite an axe to grind.

Notice that they refused to back up their unsupported assertions.

That's why the left is screaming about all the spending cuts.
