This was a unique election in that you had an incumbent president who dropped out of the race. This never bodes well for the incumbent party. And unlike the last two times this happened (1968 and 1952) the incumbent dropped out after the primaries were over.

Now, that said, I think the Democrats should think long and hard before they nominate another woman. Clinton and Harris have proven that there's a section of the electorate that won't support a woman for whatever reason. I won't be disappointed. I knew he was going to fuck things up last time and he did.

This time, he has no guard rails. No people who know what they are doing in the cabinet posts, no one in Congress with the balls to push back (at least until 2026), and not even the threat of re-election to make him behave. I don't have to "steal goofy slogans"; that's what the numbers show. Trump did worse with white people, about the same with black people, and much worse with Hispanics and Asians, who ironically, are probably going to be the ones most negatively effected by his xenophobic policies.
