Now a resident of a Red state! Hallelujah!
Here is how you can tell. It’s akin to the crime detection maxim: follow the money. It’s looking at what they SAY they seek as an objective versus what they do to “achieve” such things. Massive disconnect.

The claim make is that the wealthy have so much more than most people that (some of) the wealth of the richer people should be redistributed to the poor. In a nutshell they claim they are seeking economic justice. But how?

It starts by villainizing the wealthy. It is easier to TAKE their material goods if they are portrayed as bad guys. So, you urge things like a sliding “progressive” income tax structure. You take more of what the wealthy earn as a percentage of income than you do from less affluent income earners. After all, they have more so they can “afford” it.

They also spend a lot of the money the government takes in on budget items for which there is no true Constitutional authority. The more they spend, the more “revenue” they demand. So they increase tax rates again and again.

Pretty soon, their unquenchable urge to spend on “social programs” (because “justice” and because “what about the children?” etc.) causes even more taxation and taxation in other forms.

The result is predictable. As disposable income goes down, purchasing goods and services goes down. Profits go down. Employment goes down. The policies of the left lead to lower economic conditions affecting the poor, first. Does this dissuade the leftists?

No. Now they seek to take political advantage of economic misery by “giving” the poorer folks more “free” stuff. It doesn’t concern them that nothing is truly free. They just go back to their well. They seek even more of the income of the more affluent. And when they can’t get blood out of a rock, they seek to seize accumulated wealth (like bank accounts and property and stocks, etc) on which taxes were already paid.

Then, when they’ve thrown enough sand into the machinery of productivity, are the poor any better off? Seriously. Are the poor better off when almost nobody can obtain material goods and services?

The obvious and correct and honest answer is “no!” So the methods of the left stand exposed. They cannot obtain by their methodology the very thing they claim to have sought: an economically better life for the poorer people in the nation. In fact, they make things worse for everybody.

But by their dishonestly premised pandering, the progressives and Democrats might attain something else: rheir actual objective all along. It’s nothing but power. Power for power’s sake.

When the people of Venezuela are starving and reduced to eating zoo animals, does Maduro eat giraffe? Hell no.

It isn’t what the progressives and Democrats SAY that reveals them. It is by their fruits that you will know them. Look at Maduro and you will get a glimpse of what they are actually all about.

Glad you've had an epiphany. That being said, the radical American Left has been anti-human, anti-American, anti-civilization for many decades. Americans only realizing these truths at this late hour is demonstration of the radical left's ability to hide their evil in plain sight and get away with it. Now that you know what the radical left is all about what do you plan to do about it?

First of all, my epiphany came quite a while back. I frankly have been trying to boil it down a bit to communicate it so that some open minded others might see it, too.

Secondly, let’s not assume that anybody (I include myself) necessarily has any obligation “to do” anything about it. Why do you ask? Have you “done” anything about it in particular?

Thirdly, by posting on an internet message board, I don’t imagine I’m going to change the world. It’s almost impossible to get anybody here to change their minds on even minor points with concrete evidence. So, whatever I may do down the road (beyond attempting to consistently expose the fraudulent nature of the progressives’ claims) is not presently open for discussion. I doubt I’ll ever run for office. Alas.

Democrats are socialists. Socialists believe in equality even when it is not deserved.

Therefore the problem is getting it through their thick skulls that all men are not created equal.

I believe that all people are created equal in the precise way that phrase was put to use in the Declaration of Independence. They are equal in the sense that all people are endowed by the Creator with certain unalienable rights which particularly include the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Do we all actually get liberty? Nope. Do we all get a chance to pursue our view of happiness? Nope. Are millions of us denied they right to live? Tragically. But those are rights we all have even if they are violated.

In other ways, of course we’re not equal. You may be taller than I am. Joe may be dumber than Ted. Some people have athletic prowess and others aren’t so gifted. Some have the brains and determination to be wildly successful entrepreneurs. Other may never get a business off the ground.

We all have a right to seek a better life for ourselves and our families and communities. We don’t have any reasonable right to demand an equal outcome.
