When Jesus came upon a man who was blind from his birth, the disciples asked the Lord a question. This is recorded in the gospel of John.
John 9:1-3
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
For the Apostles to believe that the blind man could have sinned in order that he was born blind, they must have believed that the man existed before he was born. Jesus did not teach them that their belief in a pre-mortal life was wrong but simple stated that the man did not sin but that he was born blind so that the works of God could be made manifest.
The word of the Lord came unto the prophet Jeremiah saying:
Jeremiah 1:5
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
In this verse Jeremiah was called and chosen to be a prophet before God ever formed him in the belly and before he came forth out of the womb.
The Lord spoke in this manner to Job:
Job 38:1-7
1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
In this verse the Lord tells us that at the time when He created the earth, that the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy.
In Proverbs we read about wisdom and how its delights were with the sons of men on God's earth.
Proverbs 8:22-31
22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
In Ecclesiastes we read that when man dies his spirit will return unto God:
Ecclesiastes 12:7
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
The Book of Revelation tells us that Michael and his angels who fought against the dragon in the war in heaven eventually came down to earth and had to rely upon the blood of the atonement to overcome Satan and died a mortal death.
Revelation 12:7-11
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
You only need the blood of the lamb if you are a sinner and you are mortal. You only die if you are a mortal. Michael and his angels were sons of God who fought in the war in heaven. They eventually came to this earth as mortal men and overcame Satan by the blood of the Lamb and loved not their lives unto the death.
Angels are not separate beings from mankind but are those who have come or will come to this earth as mortal men. We all existed before coming to this earth and we all were valiant in the war in heaven. Those who sided with Satan were denied the opportunity to receive a body in this world. Our life in the pre-mortal existence is also known as our first estate. We all were successful in our first estate. Satan and his followers were not successful and are mentioned by Jude:
Jude 1:6
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Ephesians 1:4
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
