Almost all cities have a homeless issue, however not many have a worse problem than Portland, Eugene, Seattle, San Francisco and many California cities. Cities that have less homeless problems, like Boise, Coeur d’Alene, Cleveland, New Orleans and a host of others. In what US city do you not find homeless camps? And since the GOP has the Executive, Senate, and House, why are not they addressing this problem?
Probably the same reason Democrats did nothing when they had the Executive, House and Senate.
Oregon who has had the governorship, and their House and Senate for several years has done nothing.
Democrats that that have had the mayorship and city council in Portland have not done anything.
Why is it that Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, Salem, Eugene, Sacramento, San Francisco, Stockton, Fresno, Merced, Santa Clara, Los Angeles, San Diego and others have such high homeless rates? All Democratic strongholds from the state level all the way down to the city levels. Why is it that these cities continue to keep having rising homeless rates? Why does Portland allow people to harass downtown workers? Why is the Portland downtown core dying? Hillsboro, Beaverton and out west are growing and prospering and Portland is dying, why is it? Why is such a great city losing more and more conventions? Why is Portland tourism dropping every year now?
Oregon used to be innovative and progressive, but we lost that after Terry Schrunk, Bud Clark and Tom McCall all left office. Since then, the course has been downhill.
