"The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists opposing the Kansas–Nebraska Act and the expansion of slavery into U.S. territories. It rapidly gained support in the North, drawing in former Whigs and Free Soilers."

“Democrats wanted to expand slavery and Republicans opposed it.”

Oh, can't forget the Civil Rights Act, of which a large portion of Democrats opposed it.

Yet today, the Democrats would have us believe Republicans are racist, because that’s what they market attracting among others, the black population. Looks like projection to me, a distortion and distraction.

Rings like “Republicans are only for the wealthy.” Meanwhile the wealthiest zip codes are Democrats….Hmm.

At that time the republicans were the progressive party.

Who is that now?

I suspect you have not been overly burdened by an extensive education, like most tRumplings.

Wrong. The Dem Party has always been the party of anti-humans and exploiting humans.

Slavery.

Abortion.

Cheap brown labor from illegals.

They have been consistent. The GOP consistently opposing them.

You guys seem to believe progressive definitions, purple hair and nose rings represents progress.

At no time were republicans a “ progressive” party, little lady.

What you’re hoping to do is excuse the vile nature of your “Party of Slavery” with goofy slogans.

Just speaking for today, it's my opinion conservatives are for core values, and practice common sense.

Today's liberals are the opposite, as they're for free-flowing values and contrary thought, at the direction of their masters.

What should be the punishment for participating in slavery OP?

Who does that describe now?
Yet Democrats conserve their penchant for hate, intolerance, and terrorism that stems from their very roots. Try harder.

I don't know, you'd have to go to Africa to find someone who participates in slavery, and the masters are black. What do you recommend?

Yep. They're gotten their special version of "education" from Rush and MAGA media.

Most folks know the two parties essentially flipped in 1964, and the driving factor was, uh, what was the driving factor again?

Oh yeah.

Free stuff of course. The state became baby-daddies to all female descendants of slaves.

From 1870 until it was litigated outta existence in 1986 Eight out of every Ten members of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were Democrats .

Slave owners were people too lazy to do the field work themselves. Case closed.

Wait, the two parties switched now? Oh that's right, I forget, that's the go-to when people point out the Democrats are the party of slavery, we simply switched hats.

Oh wait, the switch happened in 1964 you say. Interesting. Is that because a large percentage of Democrats voted against the Civil Rights act? Now these Democrats are Republicans right?

We just switched is all. How convenient.
