The only ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz are Iran's "Shadow Fleet".

So tell me what I'm missing. If the only ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz are Iran's shadow fleet, then why aren't we targeting them? We have precision strike missiles that can disable the rudder/propellers without sinking or destroying the tanker. It seems we should be doing that.

Probably because it would also hurt us

Bigger question......

We keep losing aircraft to Iran (the Pentagram keeps hiding it), and now Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz.
So if the US can't even conquer a tiny little 3rd world nation like Iran, who in their right mind thinks the US could handle China or even Russia? You'd have to be a Unicorn believer too.

Cultist have always bragged how NO ONE can stand up to US Military Might.....yet we keep losing to little guys?

Not exactly a source I am familiar with.

Not sure if it is trustworthy or not.

There might be shadow fleet vessels on the open ocean, but I doubt anything bigger than a small fishing boat can go through the Straight of Hormuz without the US Navy knowing about it.

Times have changed. Now any country can get a fleet of drones that even scares carriers away.

If you think it's bad now, imagine a nuclear Iran closing the Strait to other countries' shipping.

We could just board their ships after they leave the Strait, drain their oil into a flagged carrier, and send them back home to get more.

Which is why I said, "If you think it's bad now, imagine a nuclear Iran closing the Strait to other countries' shipping."

We're back where we started.
Again, a nuclear attack would spark more nuclear attacks. Nobody will use it except when facing total defeat, anyway.
I think that Iran would not have launched nukes if it had some.

Well, that's the question. The correct answer is that if Iran had one, they could block the Strait and the world's options are to submit to their demands or face full out atomic war.

Best to avoid that by toppling them now. No matter what it takes.

BTW, this is my last ride on the logic merry go-round with you.

Well, I am sure you have way more important stuff to do.

One most probable and disconcerting scenario would be a rogue nation like Iran using it's nukes to produce EMP over the continental USA.

Such an attack using two to six warheads could kick most of the USA back a couple of centuries in surviving tech and capabilities.

An enemy like China would really take advantage of a "proxy" doing it's dirty work.

Supposedly a few decades ago we could have hardened our electrical system to survive the EMP for around four billion dollars. That would not have saved a lot of infrastructure. It would have gotten us a quick start to rebuilding that infrastructure.

How exactly would Iran get a nuke over the continental US?
