To be clear, I did not follow Mr. Kirk. I did not usually watch his videos, or listen to his podcast, or attend any of his events. Yes, I am a conservative, but I subscribe to the traditional meaning of that word, which popular influencers of the day have labored to replace with cultural brinkmanship. When Mr. Kirk spoke, I found a lot of what he had to say moronic, or even immoral. He could slip into apocalyptic indictments of Democrats and promote reckless conspiracies. In many instances, he should have spoken more judiciously about race.

None of that mattered to me when I heard he had been shot. I was distraught. Mr. Kirk was part of the same space that I occupy every day: the mess of American political discourse and activism. I may not have followed him, but I have plenty of friends who did.

Was he a good influence on everyone who listened to him? I don’t think so.

Did his work elevate the tone of our national conversation? Perhaps not.

But he was in the protected sphere nonetheless, where ideological combatants fight with words, not bullets. It’s the same sphere as all the college newspapers and activist groups inhabit. If one person on one campus was willing to bring a gun to a debate, why not another?

So many posts have been identified so far that the claim by the left that no one is celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk or calling for more murders is laughable and for those posters here it is proof you are crazy and violent if you are a lefty.

I agree. The only one guilty is the one who pulled the trigger and/or anybody who aided and abetted him in doing that.

But those who are gleeful, have no problem with the murder, justify and/or condone it are disgusting, reprehensible, possibly dangerous people. And those who defend them, approve their posts, do not see them as disgusting and reprehensible are just as bad as they are.

So shortly after the murder, I saw this post on social media by a person I know personally so I won't name him.

"Charlie Kirk getting shot, not on my bingo card but I'll take it. No one should be too surprised at this, its par for the course, & save your tears for those who actually deserve them. . ."

This is via a Generation X or Z 'occupy Democrats' ANTIFA type.

He is not the only one but this kind of mentality you are seeing everywhere in the leftwing media, social media, and on message boards.

I cannot imagine being that hateful in my point of view.

If I had been in the same room with that person when I saw that post, it would have taken all my strength not to slap him though. It is just that offensive, disgusting, unacceptable to me.

I know he actually fought against killing a bill to allow concealed weapons, concealed firearms on college campuses.



Ironic that Charlie Kirk ended up being a school shooting victim.

Charlie Kirk was a calm and sober radical who shook up a very uncomfortable and stifling stalemate between two warring factions. Now we can all begin to move forward again. We all should be aware by now that both sides have their demons.
